My daughter and I spent the day shopping together yesterday. It was great spending so much time together.
I accomplished a lot. Only 5 people left to shop for. 14 months ago

How I did it: I started early. I made a list of people I needed to buy gifts for. I set a limit per person.

but i’m leaving for a solo vacation on December 18th. i need to have everything purchased by the 15th so I can get it wrapped in time. 15 months ago
I actually accomplished this goal aside from a couple small things that I wanted to wait and get with Mark after he arrived. It was a great feeling to be done. However, I spent way to much money and now will have to work on re-establishing my savings I’m afraid. It was well worth it… Mark loved EVERYTHING I got him and my family and friends also seemed pleased with their gifts. I spent more this year on people than I usually do and it felt great. It’s nice to be able to do a little more.
I hope everything doing this goal did well with it and had a Happy Christmas! 5 years ago
Everything has arrived and every gift is wrapped. The tree is up, lit and decorated. There are lights on the balcony. All I have left is to make a triple batch of French onion soup and enjoy the holidays for once. 5 years ago
I ordered my last gifts on 12/13 and everything that has come is wrapped. I am still waiting for 8 packages (yay mostly-free shipping; I hate going to stores) but that’s UPS’s problem not mine :o) Maybe I’ll have time for a tree and lights this year… 5 years ago
my husband Mark will be arriving from the UK on December 16th and it would be lovely to have all the Christmas shopping done before then so he and I can spend more time together doing things we love.
It’s important to get working on this goal as soon as the 2006-2007 school year starts because I always choose direct deposit for my paychecks and this upcoming school year I am going to allocate a certain amount of each paycheck (say $30) and have it automatically deposited in a savings account at a credit union. This savings account will be my Christmas fund. If I route it separately I won’t be dipping into it.
Anyhow, the other part of this goal that I can start nice and early is asking people what they’d like for Christmas, which is a rather difficult thing to do in my family. The issue is that when I ask people what they would like they say, “oh, I don’t need anything” or, “I’ll love whatever you get me”. Blah, in a way that makes it twice as hard for me because I want to be sure I get people good gifts.
I plan to start my Christmas shopping on Thanksgiving Morning and continue it on Black Friday. I will also purchase a few items online for people. I don’t like to start before then as sometimes they have such great sales! Also, I love the rush and excitement and my sister and I do Black Friday shopping every year so I don’t want to ruin the tradition.
I am confident that even starting the actual shopping so late I can get it all done by December 15th. My husband is easy to shop for. My dad is as well. A few aunts and uncles are harder. My mom is quite hard to shop for. My sister is easy to shop for. Family pets are easy to shop for. The cousins I buy for are harder. 5 years ago
