Even though I went I don’t feel like this goal is completed yet because I didn’t actually find the cache. I’m debating going back out later to find it. We shall see. I feel a bit disappointed. It was an interesting thing to see (it was an old poor house/asylum).

How I did it: Signed up for a name at geocaching.com then searched for caches by area code. The first time we tried to find this one we weren't able to. That made me rather disappointed and I said I wouldn't consider this complete until I'd finally found one.Today after a really long motorcycle ride, Adam and I stopped at the cache location and found it. It was REALLY cool. Hopefully we'll be able to find the asylum one before graduation! :)Definitely w… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I don't remember where exactly I learned about geocaching, I actually think it was on one of my old 43things accounts. Anyway, I learned about it approximately a year ago and have wanted to go out and do it ever since. I still haven't gotten a GPS device, but I found out that some friends of mine used to go out all the time. They agreed to take me out when the weather got nicer, and well...the weather got nicer. We went o… Read how I did it…
How I did it: In July, I got an iPhone 3G w/ GPS. I didn't think much about the GPS (was mostly looking at the other features), but since I don't have a standalone GPS unit, this was the missing feature I needed!I've had so much fun geocaching. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Though some people geocache "naked" (ie, without a GPS device) it makes the search much more agonizing and you are that much more likely to give up and never achieve your goal. Also, if you go without a GPS, you are limited to hunting in areas that you are familiar with. Anyway, I bought a GPS and used the geocaching.com website to find geocaches near me. Out of those (and there were a TON!) I picked the five that looked easy but still wo… Read how I did it…

Even though I’ve completed this goal I thought I’d still put in an update :)
I finally went out and got a GPS. I found one cache myself (yay!!) and I looked for another and couldn’t find it. I felt better about it when I found another comment from a seasoned geocacher saying he couldn’t find it either.
More to find this weekend!! (weather permitting that is)

I was going to go out and do this today, but my husband forgot to leave me the car seat, so, since I don’t have any within walking distance this will wait until tomorrow.
I did go to www.geocaching.com to create a profile, now I just need some caches to add to my list!
I’m excited! We’re going to hit up the party store to get some cute “treasures” and then off to the trails with some experienced geocachers!
I’ll let you all know how it turns out tomorrow. I should be able to cross this one off my list!

This sounds like so much fun, and there are a lot of “caches” in my area. I think a lot of them are just off the walking trails so I can get them while I’ve got my little one in the stroller. Not only do I think this will be fun, but it will help me get active and lose all that weight. If I get pregnant again soon, I’ll probably keep on the next 20 too, that will put me over 200 and I don’t want to get there!!! Talk about motivation!!

Found my first cache today! Heroes Wall. So now I can officially say I am a geocacher! Wahoo!

Turns out, I may have found one after all, just was looking for the wrong shape of a thing! I’ll have to go back this weekend and see if I am right! A friend who geocaches looked at the url for the easy one and sent me a link to the picture of what the case looks like and gave me some pointers of places she’d look based on what the cache site description said. And, lol, I think I found it but thought it was part of the flower bed sprinkler system. oy vey. The other two, still have no idea, lol. But, maybe I’ll have a find under my belt soon!

Well, I tried. Hunted three, found zero. :( I think I don’t know how to look. And the hints don’t make sense to me so don’t help. Very frustrating. Stopped when I got hungry and had lunch. I’ll try again another day. Maybe I’ll actually find one then I can say I’ve actually done this, lol.

I need to do something about my cell phone and have been looking at the iphone. Which has a great gps…. Which would kill two birds with one electronic stone… lol. The phone cost has been bothering me until I realized I was looking at spending $200 on a gps and $200 on a phone and the iphone is less than those put together. duh. And I could start this goal!!! And a girl at work was showing me her iphone today and I was telling her about geocaching and she was really interested. So, maybe a treasure hunt buddy?

Am researching GPS’s. I need one that will work well but that I am willing to spend the money for. heh. So far, I am not thrilled with GPS devices… Think I am spoiled by google earth and the GPS devices seem lightyears behind that in terms of the image you see. So it has me perplexed about what to do… lol.
