The problem with the GD classes is that they’ll put you through the motions .. . The work is often boring, and lame, and assignments carry all kinds of crazy restrictions.
Oh btw, there’s also a shitload of standing around critiquing others’ work, and I mean, since its a class, these are Assignments so. . . everybody’s work kinda looks the same after a while. . . which I guess teaches you that if you want to be a great designer, you should really stop taking graphic design classes and, as my favorite illustrator would say . . .

And forget about the degree thing. Your portfolio is what matters. I say, if you’re just getting started, use your own intuition to build that fucker up, but don’t only rely on boring Academic work to do it. 8 years ago
