visit the planetarium

I remember we had a working planetarium at my highschool. It was very neat. Unfortunately when I recently revisited my HS, I was shown the room, with the dome, but told that now it’s just used as a regular class room, that they no longer give the shows which would show the stars and constalations upon the ceiling. No more Mr. Yankee with his arrow pointer cruising across the pretend sky. No more man made sunrise. what a shame.I hope someone rich funds a reopening of this educational wonder.

I haven’t been to a planetarium since I was a little kid… and even that feels half like a dream, or something I saw on TV… if you asked me to swear I’d been to one I might hesitate a little, but I’m pretty sure I’ve been to one on a class trip or something.

And, it’s not like I’m a space-geek or anything (well, maybe just a little), but I do definitely find the universe – stars, planets, moons, comets, even just space itself – interesting, awe-inspiring and fascinating.

I hear good things about the local planetarium and in checking out their website have found that it is a pretty good price for admission considering you can stay and watch as many of their shows that day as you want.

Maybe one of these upcoming weekends I can manage to get myself organized to do that.
