katy70Where to begin...

Now that’s I’ve stopped doing some things I don’t want to be doing, I can start doing some things I should/could/would like to do.

We bought our house 3 years ago. We are still commited to living here for a while. We are now ready to make the back yard our own.

We have a few challenges: A recently deceased spa, a filled in swimming pool with unlevel perimeter, only 250 sq ft of arable land, 120 foot driveway, the garage mahal our 660 sqft detached garage, a giant coast live oak that drops prickly leaves. The air conditioning condenser unit is in the back.

We have a few assets:
-The weather in Sunnyvale, CA is some of the best in the world.
-All that concrete makes a nice patio.
-The leaves are great mulch, compost carbon and cover for my worm bin.
-The spa is surround by a grand redwood gazebo.
-We have a clever back porch and deck out the back door. It holds up a huge buganvilla and canopy of a climbing rose bush. I made a small raised garden boxfor part of the land not coverd in cement.
-We have 2 free standing fence sections I use to block access to the driveway so we have an enclosed back yard for the toddler.
-The south wall of the garage is a good place for tomatoes. It get nice an hot in the summer.

So the todo list from here is to:
-disconnect the spa from the electrical in a safe manor
-have the spa hauled away, preferably to someone who can fix and use it.
-put the patio table set in the gazebo area
-move the lemon tree and blueberry boxes to “end of the driveway” edible garden.
-identify plants and containers for the gazebo area, a la Empire Tap Room outdoor seating area.
-investigate electrical outlets for the gazebo for a heater, lights or at least for a blender on a side table. 5 years ago
