My reasons may be for a reason that few others may have . I have read many books about the war there .I want to see where this happened and its kind of hallowed ground to me . We lost so many fine men and boys there due to such terrible circumstances that should have never happened. To see where all this went on is a dream of mine I also know that the beauty is not riveled by too many places.

How I did it: I'd always wanted to go to Vietnam and found a volunteer experience through CADIP (a Canadian organization) to help me achieve the goal. Here are two articles about my experience:http://www.pology.com/article/07213.html http://matadortravel.com/travel-writing/vietnam/sustainability/fishing-for-hope-volunteer-work-on-the-banks-of-vietnam-s-red- And here's my blog: http://www.jenniferanthony.net/Blog/Blog.html Read how I did it…

Last summer, my mom gave me the oppertunity to travel to Vietnam with her. I have got to say, it was one of the most remarkable experiences that I had in my entire life time. I felt like I was in a different world when I arrived there. The people, food, buildings, and culture was unlike anything that I’ve experienced before. Of course, I’ve heard stories and seen videos and pictures of Vietnam but that doesn’t compare to experiencing everything first hand.
all of my father’s side of the family lives there. he has 5 sisters & 2 brothers. i went when i was 16. it was mad crazy meeting so many people who knew all about me when i had no idea who some of them were.
apparently nobody waves there as a greeting. every time i did that people cocked their heads, but smiled ‘cause they thought i was “odd, but cute”. it was funny.
i remember doing cartwheels in the “dining room” which was this open space that also worked as the living room.
the living room also had a tele. my grandpa was obsessed with watching soccer on the only channel they had. i want to go back & hug him.
i was such a difference person when i was sixteen.

I booked a trip early this year on a whim. Only 2 months till I go!
I’m spending 25 days there travelling from South to North. Really looking forward to relaxing and soaking up the atmosphere.
I’m half Vietnamese, but I’ve never been anywhere close to Vietnam. My Mom and her relatives are always conveying stories to me, which is cool. But, I’d like to see the nation myself at some point.
I’ve booked my trip :) going to Laos and Vietnam on 28th March for 2 weeks…...

They broke up and he moved to Osaka with his new girlfriend and she moved back to LA. Don’t know when/if I will ever get to Vietnam now.
I visited Saigon last summer, and I have to say that it was one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever laid eyes on. Visiting my home city in China honestly doesn’t feel much different from the suburbs, but one single sight has made sure that I will never forget Vietnam.
After climbing to the roof of my hotel, when I looked out, I saw small one houses stretching until the horizon in every single direction. I couldn’t move. It just made me realize that there are people down there. People live here. It was a refreshing change from the bustling, but utterly cold metropolis I’ve come to know.
Lovely, my trip was too short. I loved Hanoi, which was cool, misty, and full of amazing little lanes, alleys, and side streets. Didn’t care as much for Saigon, which reminded me of LA—more cars, more sprawl, etc.
Love the little ice cream joints and coffee shops on all the sidewalks, with itty-bitty little stools. Don’t go when trying to quit smoking—they smoke as much and as ubiquitously as the Chinese. Local cigarettes are really cheap, sometimes quite good.
