This goal seems to have a braod definition. I’ve lived 1000 miles or more from my parents for years so I’m used to flying alone. By traveling alone I mean…
1.) Book a flight OR plan a road trip
2.) Stay at a hotel alone
3.) Do sight seeing in a brand new area alone
4.) MAYBE go out to eat alone….but Subway and pizza are fine by me

I’m a teacher so this is totally doable. Perhaps next summer or over spring break???

My sister and I went to Madonna last year in Vancouver . It was my second time travelling on a plane and I was a little nervous..I met my sister there and then she ended up leaving a day before me….I ended up having the most wonderful experience travelling around a strange city whelling around my suitcase ..ahhh it was so much fun!!! I want more !!!

Cool thing to do esp. when you're a loner most of the time. haha 2 months ago

I am gonna do this the Summer after the upcoming Summer, which will be a a little more than a year later.
I swear I’ll hold my fear and go full speed ahead on the plane all by myself. _

Viajar sola, sin llegar a un destino donde te esten esperando es algo que tengo pendiente.
Viajar sola si lo hice, pero siempre llegaba a algun lugar donde me esperaban…

I did this two years ago, on a trip to Paris 9 months ago

But at first I was supposed to go with someone, who canceled. It was my birthday week, and the trip was paid for (it was for a work trip), so all I had to do was get the extra hotel days for myself. Paris. Free Ride. My birthday. How could I resist?

the work conference was for 3 days, so I went for 10. I got there days early and stayed days later. I AM SO GLAD I DID IT!!!!

I literally found landmarks from walking around. I learned how to get around on the metro, walked miles and miles every day, just taking things in. Had quiet time in Luxembourg Gardens, drank amazing coffee and wine at little cafes…met people from all over the world (even partied with some people i met the night of my birthday while I was drinking Absinthe alone, at a historical hotel)....

I could go on, but I loved it. It was adventurous and exciting. Mostly, I am happy I did not hold myself back because I had no choice but to spend time alone. That would be a definite regret.

So, as another birthday approaches, off I go to Mexico for the week—alone.

I think everyone should do this at least once in their lifetimes. It’s a scary or strange prospect at first, perhaps, but completely worth it in the end.

(of course, traveling with a loved one or friends is good too—it’s just different)

is this the best way to travel? i an a loner by nature but never have traveled anywhere without having someone i know at my destination. when i snowboard with company i often try to leave from the pack and get lost on my own and discover new trails. Maybe solo traveling is my next great adventure. i do love meeting new people and really discovering new things that i am capable of doing.

A couple days ago my wealthy Aunt asked me where I would like to travel “next” (as if I had traveled at all). I said England, because I’m not comfortable with a language barrier and I always felt some connection to England. Her response was, “Well wouldn’t that be a nice trip for your graduation.” Now at first I read that as her hinting that she’s going to send me there. I could be very wrong, but I started thinking about traveling. As I’ve mentioned, I’ve never really traveled. Just here and there with the parents to visit family members. But as I thought about England, and maybe one day being handed a single plane ticket, a sudden burden was lifted. Just the thought of it suddenly didn’t scare me anymore. I never would dream of even driving to another state by myself, so why all of the sudden the change of heart for going over seas? Listen, I’m shy and I HATE flying! Ok so the flying part still scares me, but the thought of being forced to communicate by myself, with no one else to speak for me has done a 180. So here it is, a goal, to one day travel…alone.
