I’ve gone 5 times so far this year, so I’ll consider it “done.” It’s getting to be spring hiking season here…

One of my friends called me tonight and asked if I wanted to do the Hog Loppet:

The Hog Loppet is a non-competitive 30k Ski Trek from the top of Mission Ridge Ski Area to Blewett Pass.
The route begins at the top of the Mission Ridge Ski Area after a chairlift ride from the base. After a short bit of ungroomed backcountry touring, the route follows a groomed trail (roads 9712 & 9716) to Blewett Pass. Spectacular views north and south make the journey across Trondsen Ridge to Haney Meadows one of the most deligthtful in the Northwest. The route ends with a long descent to Blewett Pass.
It’s also the day before the Chilly Hilly…
Robot Laurel called my bluff on this one and we drove early this morning to Snoqualmie pass and went on a nice climb up the mountain on skis. Eventually we had to come down which was interesting on rental skis. My legs are tingly and devastated from all the snowplowing down.
A beautiful winter day.
Just got back from my session of cross country skiiing with Shelley. She was a great teacher and I got the hang of it in no time. I fell in the beginning but then I got the rhythm and off we went. I was loving the sun shining on my face and all that white snow everywhere. I know I am going to ache tomorrow but I am dying to do this again. well worth it!
My friend Shelley feels so bad about standing me up for dinner this week that she agreed to take on the penalty of taking me cross-country skiing this weekend. too exciting for words!
promises me that she will take me out cross country skiing this winter. I’m seeing her in a week so plan to put pressure on her to make a plan
Yesterday was the first session for my class on backcountry skiing. Not only was it a beautiful day, but apart from some icy areas, the powder was great. So happy – I’d forgotten how much I love skiing!
Signed up for class through community college & REI. I’m determined that this winter is not going to be about SAD or always being sick with a cold. Now all I need to do is figure out how to put on chains.
