I did go see quite a few big things on my road trip cross country including the world’s largest truck stop AND the world’s largest gas station. I wanted to go see the world’s largest ball of twine in Oklahoma, but by the time we got to the city the museum was closed. That’s alright, though it is not a “big thing” I did get to see the birthplace of Kool-Ade, which I think is way cooler than twine anyway.
So, I’ve seen two; eight more to go.

So, the internet research continues. Since Ohio will be the easiest starting place to begin on my “big things” goal, I decided I would start there. There are some very wierd roadside attractions in Ohio, as listed on Roadside America . I especially like the Topiary interpretation of Geoorge Saraut’s Sunday Afternoon in Columbus, although it doesn’t really fit into the “big things” goal.
I could go see the world’s largest Amish buggy in Berlin (yawn), or the world’s largest rubber stamp in Cleveland (I see that all the time!) or the world’s largest crystal ball in Westerville, but all of these things lack a certain level of kitchy-ness. I got all excited about the world’s largest cheese, but then found out that it actually spoiled and was throw away.
What about the world’s a largest ball of twine, or tine foil, or the world largest rutabega? Now THOSE would be worth going out of the way for.
