They are fully bonded! I’m so glad they took to each other in such a short time period :D Sometimes I catch them squabbling, but for the most part, they hang out, cuddle, and “call” to each other a lot. They both have their own unique voices/sounds and have learned to imitate each other, it’s cute!

Yoda and Ocean are getting along so well, they are best buddies it seems! I was able to move them into the same cage so now they live together. It’s so cute to watch them eat out of the same food dish and cuddle together :D I am very happy that they are friends!

After much consideration, we had to do it… We got Yoda a friend very recently! She will be the last parrot, as 2 is more than enough to handle ;D Yoda just made his 1 year birthday, and our newest addition is only 3 months old. She is a beauty and is the same species/similar size as Yoda, but her feathers are bright turquoise instead of green! I named her Ocean, partially for her coloring, and also because of her extremely mellow temperament (for now). So far the two birdies appear to get along very well and since both have had recent vet check ups and are totally healthy and free of diseases, we’ve been allowing them to interact. I caught them snuggling yesterday and they preen each other a lot! Yoda’s still establishing his “dominance” so there is a little bickering here and there, but Ocean is good about yielding and knowing her place so to speak. She seems more bonded to me, and loves to cuddle in my hair, but I have to watch her because when I leave a room, she will fly to the ground and try to follow me, which is dangerous. But in general, so far so good! My husband was very supportive of the idea and likes our new addition :D And I am so happy that Yoda has a buddy, especially for times when we’re at work so he isn’t lonely.

Yoda did so great at his physical :D The vet said that while he’s tiny, he has very strong muscles and is healthy! Yoda also got a wing clip and nail trim (my hands are so thankful, no more cuts!) and took it like a champ with very minimal squawking :D
He also had his first very long road trip with us yesterday (he’s been on many “mini road trips”) and did great! He didn’t throw up or seem upset. In fact, he seemed to enjoy the ride and was happy to be with us. Yoda crashed out when we finally got home :D He’s a tough little bird with lots of spirit!

I set up Yoda’s first appointment for a physical this week just to ensure that he’s healthy. He’s now 8 months old, and his feathers are even more brilliant green! He has bonded with us a lot, and continues to exhibit so many unique, lovable quirks. Yesterday when I was getting ready for bed, I thought I heard his chirp getting increasingly closer, and when I turned around, I saw him bounding right toward me wanting to be picked up! He’s become so independent and is constantly wanting to follow us wherever we go, it’s endearing :D

Yoda continues to amuse us with his antics, and has totally bonded with us! His latest thing is that he imitates my laugh :D My husband and I like to take him with us when we’re driving (short distances) in our vehicle, and he gets extremely chatty. Last night we made a run into town, and Yoda just kept imitating my laugh, and even the flow of my speech patterns. We couldn’t stop laughing; it was just hilarious how accurate his interpretation was :)

I love Yoda!

He is such an awesome parrot! He has really grown attached to my husband and I and we take him almost everywhere that we can. When we do simple errands to non-food places, I just plop him up on my shoulder and he totally sits there and behaves perfectly! Yoda’s a great ice breaker and people just love him :) He has the funniest quirks too that amuse us so much! Yoda loves to wrestle, and cuddle. He’s seriously like a dog trapped in a little bird’s body, I love him :D

The other week my husband and I agreed that we should have a pet! We opted for a bird since it’s less hassle in comparison to a dog or cat—especially being renters still. In time we’ll have our dogs! Anyway, my husband named him “Yoda” and he is a green-cheeked conure; a smaller parrot. So far so good! He has proven to be a sweet birdie with a big personality! He likes to be everywhere we are, even in the shower :D I am hoping in time that Yoda will learn to say a few words or phrases since he has the potential. We’ll see! We have 15+ years to find out :D

I want to get a parrot, too. Petco has the most gorgeous baby Conure in their store now. Only $580. Ha. I can afford that like I can afford anything over $100 right now. Not at all. I’ve developed this fascination with birds lately that I can’t explain. I see beauty and take enjoyment in the banterings of our two little parakeets, and love listening to bird songs on early morning walks. We had a parakeet that talked, for almost five years. He died shortly after our dog did, last year. I think he was as lonely for ‘ol Hoover as I was. Still am. We got two more parakeets, so they could keep each other company. They don’t talk, or want to have anything to do with my hand in the cage, but they respond to our voices. I could teach a parrot to talk, I know I could. I love birds. I love dogs. I could probably love a cat, too, if I ever had one. But that’s not a big want. A hamster, or a gerbil, I could love them too, but their little wants. The conure parrot and the dog, they are big wants.

He came with his mate, Merry (I know. Very corny.) but Merry died. I had him with another female budgie who also passed away. I have had Pippen for about 6 1/2 years. Other than a cockatiel (who flew away, sad story) he was my first bird. Or the first out of this bunch. I don’t have any pics of Gandalf, my first cockatiel.
