Womaninheels lives in the power of possibility

Just Read It! 16 months ago

I found the self-absorption slow and a little boring at first but then I realized how wry and honest it was and how shockingly like me. I had to embrace the ‘I can do anything’ belief that has emboldened me and most of the other upper middle class Americans in their twenties that I know. A nice look at a time of life (early adulthood, the just out of college twenty-somethings) and a place (San Francisco just as the dot-com boom was taking off). Kinda catalogs the birth of the modern yuppie. Anyway, a bit of slog but worth it. Definitely.

A Gorgeous Read 2 years ago

Some people complain about the self-absorption of David Eggers but I think you have to keep in mind the reality of loss that any person in these shoes endures. We each deal with it in our own ways, none more valid than others. I feel he offers a poignant, often painful insight into his personal process of coping with grief, something for which I was grateful. Highly recommended.

Argh!! This book was so bad. It started out interesting and cool, but the guy is too arrogant and not funny.

not done yet... 2 years ago

I’m not liking this book as much as I thought I would. I’m about 2/3 of the way through, though, so I hope to finish before the summer is over.

Great book, wonderful author 2 years ago

This book is really worth reading… it’s the most original thing I’ve read in a while. It’s also hilarious. Not in a laugh out loud, David Sedaris way, but more like an ironic hipster wryness that’s just as funny.

Dave Eggers is also an unbelievably nice and intelligent man- I got to interview him for my school paper and he was just the best. Read it!
