She has asked twice. Guess I’m done!
How I did it: I started cutting the feedings one by one and replacing them with formula and then with whole milk (Baby is almost 1 year, so whole milk is ok). That way Baby got used to it and my boobs got used to it. I gradually got down to just one feeding a day, which was the 3 AM feeding. That was the hardest one to quit because when she wakes up, it's so much easier to just breast feed than get up and make a bottle. But it's been 10 days since she's breast fed at all and she's doing great! My boobs are still a little tender and swollen, but they're getting better.

She had milk once in the past couple of days. Turned it down again in a mid-night fuss session. So I think we may be done. Once we’ve hit a week, we are done…so i guess i just have to see how the time passes.

with no milk. She actually turned it down this morning in the wee hours and had a few gulps of water instead. YAY!

A new bed for baby was a big step in the right direction. Sometimes one nurse in the night. Almost done.

4:30 am. Baby starts yelling at me, because I cut her off. Nooooooo! Mumum!! Nooooooooooo! Mi! Miiiiiii(lk)! Nooooooooo! Mumum!! At the top of her frikkin’ lungs. So we’re downstairs right now. Another reason to cut her off completely! But she just came over and gave me the sweetest hug…

I can now count the # of time I give her milk during the course of the day. And it’s dropping every day or two. My boobs are almost mine again!

Itsy bitsy steps. But I’ve decided, just now, she will be done by 18months. She’s 15months now. Countdown begins.

Sophie got her 15month shot this morning. I didn’t nurse her to comfort her. I held her, and hugged her, and she was fine.

I’m trying to nurse her just before her nap time – once in the morning – once in the afternoon, and just before bedtime. We’re getting there. She was grumpy about it at first, but it’s easier now. And she has reduced the number of night feedings a little bit. Plus she’s spending half the night in the big kids’ room!

Now the challenge is on. She’s being bossy. Even starting to lift up my shirt. She’s getting quite demanding in her nursing – and it seems I’m getting less and less sleep. “No, Sophie.” That’s what I need to practice. I need to get her so she’s nursing only a handful of times during 24hrs. 3 – 5 would be good (and none at night!). but I’m such a pushover!
