I live in a small town near Lake Tahoe, CA. I’ve watched people move here to enjoy small town living, and eventually they do. It takes them a while to adjust.
Imagine:
1) At a four-way stop-sign intersection, each person waving to the other driver(s) to take their turn, no rush. Seeing the smiles and on all of the drivers’ faces. What adjustment? You have to “LOOK” at the person, make eye contact.
2) During the winter when the annual 100” of snow begins, learn how each person needs to be prepared for a week or two when they cannot get leave their homes. Watch them SHARE with the newcomers so they will learn how to share, too.
3) Watch the new owner’s of 4-WD vehicle as they learn how to drive it properly, not like the commercials on TV. Eventually they slow down and enjoy the pleasures. I guess they begin to remember the city people and the hectic lives they have.
4) Watch the old-timers greet the new-comers as they meet when walking. At the very least they make eye contact and nod their heads. But most of the time they say, “Hello” with an eager smile. It’s a mark of respect for another, albeit unknown, person.
I hope you reach your goal!
