Rediscover how powerful I am

powerful 14 months ago

I realized today how powerful my job is.
I really don’t even have to do much but say where I work and instantly grown men, tough correctional officers who deal with inmates all day, are calling me “ma’am”.
It’s hilarious and humbling.
It’s really not me, I know, but it’s pretty amazing to think this is where I am right now.

On my way 21 months ago

For so long this goal has been drifting around on my list. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do, but I had no idea of where to start.

Right now I’m reading a lot of books by Gary Zukav about authentic power. The concepts are so simple, but also very liberating. I finally feel like I’m starting to make progress on many things in my life, including becoming more powerful.

so this is cool, I went to the second interview on Tuesday, and today I got a call to come back for a third interview to meet with the regional supervisor! YEAH!!

I guess something went right 2 years ago

My interview last week must have gone well because they called me and told me they want me to come back for a second interview.
I’m very excited!

interview 2 years ago

so I have an interview later this morning. I have been freaking myself out over it all night and haven’t even been able to really fall asleep.
I need to get back my self confidence and just go in there and be myself and act like I own the place. I need to remember I have a lot to offer these peeps and they would be dumb to not hire me.

Would be amazing 2 years ago

Sometimes I can imagine what that would be like. Sometimes I still feel unworthy of this or too old or unable.

But when I imagine it…it sounds exhilerating. That’s spelled wrong of course:)

Wow... 2 years ago

I did not know the type of power I had in me when I was younger (mid-to-late teens). As I’m starting to practice the piano more often, I completely forgot the amount of patience and discipline it took for me to learn pieces. Then to take criticisms, make them into compliments, interpret music beautifully. That’s power. I’m so happy I am rediscovering this type of power that I had over myself and others when they listened to me play. Wow…

this is what new york has given me 3 years ago

Or maybe it happens when you settle in anywhere. I think this goal really never ends, we become more powerful as we age.

On the day before my birthday, my last full day of being 25, I have realized how far I have come in the past year. There’s one hurdle left, that finding a job thing, but if that’s all that’s left I can tackle it. I have come so far and life has given me so much support, feedback, perspective, people, places, and a purpose. I have acheived everything I want in life right now and that is real power.

choosing one's own way 3 years ago

“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

Man’s Search for Meaning

MINE 3 years ago

Even if it doesn’t always feel like it,
I am completely in control of my own destiny.

We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out.
-Ray Bradbury
