I’m taking classes again. :) It’s just a beginner class but it’s great and really relaxing to play again even if I’m no good at all. 11 months ago

UCTUHAStepping back in

I learned to play guitar through self teaching, but I want to learn (relearn) to play properly. 12 months ago

I took lessons a couple of years back. I loved playing it even though I wasn’t very good – it’s relaxing to switch off after work and use a different part of the brain. I want to get back to relearn the chords and notes I knew before and practice regularly. 2 years ago

I picked it up one night last week. It was nice, playing it. I went through the book I starting learning, because really, I don’t know alot. And I’ve forgotten some of the simple things. I realllllllly need to find the big folder I had of pages from my guitar lessons and tabs I printed out.

I talked to my mom about having Paula give me lessons again. She said anytime. So probably in the next few weeks. 2 years ago

I never was that good, but god I hear songs all the time and I want to know how to play them. 3 years ago

yellowdressesBasically got 6 chords down...

and that makes me feel like I’ve achieved this goal. :D
But really, have been practicing about a half an hour most days, and have been learning songs both by musicians and silly ones that the boy and I write. It’s been great, and I feel like I’ve got it down again. So, congratulations, me. 3 years ago

yellowdressespracticed for 30 minutes today

This is one of the reasons why unemployment is tolerable sometimes. :] I have the greatest guitar teacher/boyfriend in the world, and I plan on getting back to rock star status within the next month, if I keep this up. 3 years ago

I haven’t touched my guitar since I got addicted to playing With A Little Help From My Friends. =[
I wounder if I can still play it.. 3 years ago

awinterstale16I am still dreaming..

I was tuning my acoustic and the high E string snapped. I’m going to have to have it restrung.
So I fiddled around with electric unplugged.
Tuned it. Strummed some chords.
It hurt my fingers. Obviously haven’t done it in ages.
Then I printed out the chords to With A Little Help From My Friends and got into playing that for an hour or so. 3 years ago

I need a passion.
I need an emotional outlit.
This is something I really wanted to enjoy, and I did occasionally. But I was just too lazy back then.
I think now I am more patient.
I’ll just play around with it a bit by myself.
Then maybe look into seeing if Chris is around to teach em again.
Or if I need to go back to the place in town for lessons. 3 years ago

i decided to push myself a little harder. i spoke to the director of hood’s early music ensemble, and am arranging an audition to join the ensemble. it means i’ll really have to buckle down and work on my sight-reading, but it will be so worth it in the long run. 4 years ago

catspajamasLast night I dreamt about buying a guitar

In my dream I was buying a new guitar from a store. The strange part was that each guitar came with a blouse. The blouses were a hippy-ish layered look, very similiar to a blouse I saw a woman in the store wearing a couple of days ago. I must of liked it because I put it in my dream! The guitar wasn’t a six-string, though. It was an electric bass guitar. Most of the dream I seem to be waiting while they made the guitar. The blouses were already made. It was kind of a strange time warp since it would be quicker to make a blouse than a bass guitar. The people in line behind me had to wait while they made my guitar. I was upset. I couldn’t figure out why they didn’t just take my order for the guitar and call when when it was ready. Instead, everyone was waiting while they made my guitar. Anyone want to attempt a dream analysis? 5 years ago

catspajamasNeed to get a guitar

but it’s not currently in my budget.I will keep this goal, though. I do intend to work on this soon. 5 years ago

catspajamasI'm not sure which guitar to buy

I have been thinking about this goal. I’ve been looking in some of the local pawn shops to see what I may want to purchase. I’m just not sure what style to buy. I once had a very nice Martin, but didn’t play much at the time, and found the body too large to play comfortably (I have short arms I guess). I’m interested in playing acoustic guitar, but I enjoy several styles of music. I love bluegrass, and jazz guitar. I also listen to folk music (John Prine, Greg Brown).I want to play like Django Reinhardt, but that will take more than just a good guitar! 5 years ago

AlishaNot a big priority right now..

Maybe in the future I’ll rethink this one, but right now, it’s not something I really want to put the effort into doing. 6 years ago

AlishaIt's a fun thing to know

I have my fender strat. and my amp stored away in my closet..Maybe I’ll take it out this Spring & sign up for some lessons. I’d really love to relearn. 6 years ago

I once played the guitar. I wasn’t great, but I really enjoyed it. I sold my guitar to help finance a business adventure. I need to find a new guitar, one that’s affordable. I’ll need to take lessons again. 6 years ago

artosmorClassical Guitar

I took classical guitar classes for almost two years in High School. Now I am a year out of college and really out of practice. I sometimes pick up my nylon stringed guitar and finger pick some spicy Italian flamenco-styled piece. I really should set aside a time at least a couple of times a week to practice. I would really like to learn chords, but for now I just know how to finger pick and read music. Chords allow you to freestyle and actually play for people in an informal setting. 6 years ago

sybagirlgonna go for it

I used to mess around with my guitar, but then I got into the keyboard and recently the drums. I’m starting to like the guitar again now so Im gonna go look for those books I probably stuffed at the bottom of my closet and start trying to remember how to play the thing. 6 years ago

wesleykeySloppy from the outset

I first picked up a guitar when i was at college but over the last few years it has drifted out of my life due to other commitments.

When i first started to study the guitar i just wanted to be able to bash out a few tunes by my favourite bands, so i just learned the chords i needed to know and a few leads and that was it. I never progressed past that point and my playing was/is still sloppy.

This time around i intend to take my time and build strong technique coupled with knowledge of music theory and note reading. 6 years ago

Sugar DarlingToo much air guitar

In highschool I fell in love with guitar and sometimes played for long stretches of time, just jamming contentedly in my bedroom. After a weird incident I let negative thoughts stop me from continuing and I’ve been out of practice for over 7 years. Thankfully I can still play a bit, but my speed, accuracy, and overall skill have gone to heck. Above all other desires regarding this goal, I really want to learn and perform some sentimental songs for my loved ones. And maybe be a rock star if I have time. 6 years ago

I restrung my guitar yesterday and broke out the books. I’m relearning my scales and picking out some arpeggios. My fingers feel a little sore but happy today. 6 years ago

gwynvirUntitled

I used to play about 10 years ago. I still have two beautiful guitars and can’t seem to get into the headspace to play. My fingers have forgotten all but the basics and that’s unmotivating.

I need to set aside at least one hour a week to start with. 6 years ago
