The paste mixing was easy, the bottle filling was a pain and really messy. The application and results were kind of sloppy, but I’m not a great artist.
I’m sure I’ll get a little better, but I feel like at this point I “get it”. I think that’s all I really wanted out of this. I just wanted to understand what was possible and have it to play around with when I feel like it.

Well I’ve done my homework, and I made the order. It turned out that my gut instincts were right about what to purchase. The books I read were not much on the facts on recipes or where to purchase materials.
I decided to go through hennacaravan.com. The lady who runs it seems to be really well known and the prices and shipping were very reasonable. After I made the order I found that she only uses lavender as a terp, but I’m sure the tea tree will work just fine.

I did some initial research tonight. There are several library books that I’m going to check out tomorrow, but tonight I looked at supplies online.
I’m trying to skip the newbie kit stage and get right into making my own paste. This is what I believe is needed at this point:
- 100g Jamila Henna
- 1 oz – Tea Tree essential oil
- Jaquard Applicator Bottle w/ Metal Tips
I’m guessing to get all this will cost about $30-40.

I love doing it- I even do it all over myself! However, I’ve been buying henna from a local Hot Topic store, and I want to get some where I can paint THIN LINES, as it comes out too thickly from the tube I have of it. Anyone know of any stores with REAL HENNA?

Now it’s just practicing and doing it. I guess it’s an official hobby now.

Ok, mostly I am exceited about the possibility of a new hobby that includes body art, but i always wanted to test the henna to see if i had an allergy. I don’t yea me.
So I bought this premixed cone. The website I have been studying doesn’t recommend then and i think i know why. They are too long to manage, and the mix was way too thin, by the time i had it coming out of the cone it was pooling and running because it was runny.
I am still going to take some henna home to ontario and perftect this hobby because i can doodle the symbols pretty well s

It has very easy to follow how to everything and lists books you can buy. I really like it.
I went out pricing henna (it’s really expensive to buy it online) and I was lucky enough to find some relatively inexpensive stuff in an indian store here in Abbotsford. They had some pre mixed cones so I think I will buy one or two to see how I am with it, make sure I am not allergic to it and then if it all works out I will buy all the stuff I need for my very own henna kit!
I drew a simple pattern today and i thing i did pretty damn good….
i think I can do this!!!

I am totally obsessed with body art. I love tattoos and I am addicted to them, I have 3 and want more but I don’t want to get them all at once. I need them to be special and something I work towards.
I love henna. Henna is a temporary skin dye that lasts for up to 4 weeks, it looks like an indian red color. The art of Mehndi is a traditional Indian practice most commonly seen on a bride for her wedding. I think the designs are beautiful and intricate and I would love to sport them on my hands and feet.
