How I did it: I called my stylist and told her what I was interested in doing. She had a better idea that was healthier for my hair, so we decided on higlights. I made the first appointment to get my hair chemically straightened first and then set my appointment for my color to be 2 weeks after.
Lessons & tips: I made sure I found the exact shade I wanted. Most people say the color they got wasnt really what they wanted it usually turns out more of a burgundy color or a grape.
I wanted true purple (think the shade of the purple ipod nano). It looks blue-ish in the pic because of the lighting but its definitely purple. And theres a lot more color around my face but the curls kind of hide them ;)

Purple is my absolute favorite color and I’ve been wanting to do something different with my hair for my upcoming 21st birthday. I had one idea in mind (it was super cool) but my hair stylist had a better idea that was safer for my hair since I’ve never dyed it before. So hopefully I’ll have purple highlights soon! And I’ll maybe try for my other idea at a later date.
I really want to do this, but I need temporary dye, cause my school doesn’t approve of dyes.
i finally did it! actually it isn’t purple. it’s more red than purple but it still has a purple tint to it. my colorist suggested it to be a little more red because my hair naturally gets red lowlights in the summer. anyways, next time, i will do pure purple because that’s what i wanted in the first place. i’ve never gotten my hair colored before so it was pretty grueling and uncomfortable. i hate waiting.
My mom said it’s fine. I just need to find a place which does it really well for really cheap. I know, good luck with that. I was thinking Asha Aveda but I have no idea how much it costs. The most I will spend is probably $60.
I got purple extensions that I could take out for work. I have to say though I wanted them for so long, so bad, they don’t do anything for me. I guess I just like them on other people;)

i wanted to do this, but what i got was red highlights… and after like a year it already turned brown… hahaha, maybe purple/violet is better? let’s see now…

Hehh now I have brown highlights instead of purple, but no matter, brown+blonde+black makes such cool hair! I don’t think I want purple highlights so much now. I’ll wait and see. Probably next time? Like a long long time later. (:

I tried this two years ago. It failed. Purple dye on Asian hair doesn’t go well without bleach. I turned out to be a pretty okay red-head/brunette though.
