Learn knitting.

I knitted practically all day and ended up with the almost scarf. The scarf is about a foot and a half long and even with minor mess ups I think I’m doing really well.

I have enjoyed knitting with Britanie as much as she has. We’re having a great time and learning a lot. Enjoying other projects too but not moving as quickly with them. Right now we have to concentrate on preparing for Halloween. Coming up soon. Have to decorate and cook. Then we’ll start Christmas projects. Wow!

I found out how to make a new row while knitting. You just repeat the same steps by pushing the needle through the hole right next to the other needle.

I thought it was some complicated bit of nonsense but nope it’s easy.

I finally learned how to do the knit stitch!!! It turns out that I had been casting on the wrong way which was part of the problem. Both strings are supposed to be dangling from the needles in one direction but I had a piece of string at both ends. I hope I haven’t made a bad habit and end up messing it up again and again.

It was fun! I envy the one woman who was going to knit a pumpkin, a real pumpkin made out of yarn. Hopefully I can do that someday.

So-so far I can make a slip knot, cast on, and do the knit stitch. I think Grammy had as much fun as me. Grammy’s way ahead of me and has mastered the knit stitch but I’m getting there at a bit of a slower pace.

My sister says it’s for old people but as usual I’m stubborn. If I like something I stick with it regardless of stereotypes and other nonsense.

Well we didn’t do to bad for ourselves today and we’ll be going back the first Saturday of next month if time permits.

And I found this really cute icon of a mouse knitting. It’s from the movie Spirited Away which is one of my favorite animated movies because Miyazaki helped make it.

Today we went to the knitting store with our brand new knitting kits. When we admitted to be new to the craft we got special help. I learned how to do a slip knot and learned casting on. I’m still stuck on the actual knit stitch but hopefully that will come in time.

The picture is what the inside of the store looks like with all the shelves of yarn that almost touch the ceiling. It’s a great little store.

We are still planning on going to the knitting club at the library this Saturday. This was a fun and fullfilling day!!!

Grammy just told my about a yarn store that teaches you to knit and is apparently offering this help to beginners for free!

I can’t wait to see the place. It’s sounds like it will be fun.

First Saturday of every month at 2:00. :)

I’m still learning. But I know how to cast on, knit, and bind off. I’m having trouble with purling but I’ll eventually get it so… yeah! I now have an awesome new hobby.

mom’s such an expert at knitting. I so hate that i still haven’t learnt it. but i sure will before i have a kid, i’ll have his socks knitted

I started to learn to knit when I was 12, not till I was in college did I learn to knit the “right” way. then I soon realized that there is no right way as long as you like doing it. ^_
