How I did it: It's so much easier to eat out at fast food or restaurants, but the benefits of cooking at home are totally worth it, you know the ingredients in the food, and you feel accomplished. My family has gotten much healthier since I started making dinner everynight.
It was so hard at first, because you get lazy and don't feel like cooking, but once you do it for a week straight it becomes routine, and you feel weird eating out.
We still eat out occasionally, but now it is more of a treat than just going out to dinner. You know it's bad when your kids are begging to eat at home...ha ha ha. Now they look forward to eating out.
I started making a weekly list of dinners which I got from RECIPEZAAR.com it makes it way to easy to eat at home. And also they have copycat recipes of your fave restaurants and fast food, except you can change the ingredients to suit your family better with out all the empty nutrition & fats & oils that are bad for you they use.
Stick to your grocery list and stay strong cause it's hard, but you & your family will be happier in the long run. We always eat at our dining table together for dinner, and when we miss eating out we turn off the lights and light candles. The kids love it. It brings our family closer for sure and you can all talk about your day! And your husband will have bragging rights.... :)

Though I’ll freely admit that the last few nights have been dinner cobbled together from boxes and bags. But it’s still better than takeout.

marinated steaks, cooked with kalamata olives, lemon juice and sweet bell peppers. basil mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. should have marinated the steaks a bit longer, they were on the dry side. otherwise, super tasty.
