How I did it: Went to all different places where you can do it! I held a gibbon! And then there was a monkey temple where I held and fed monkeys! They were so sweet and they have the worlds softest hands! I love them to the extreme!

I held a monkey in mexico…it was cool but I felt bad for him. He was very scared and his living conditions left a lot to be desired

A friend I had in grade school had a spider monkey. That thing was crazy!!! I remember one night at a slumber party, that thing got out of it’s cage and was running across the top of the drapes. It also used to eat grasshoppers in the most disgusting way. It was fun to play with but I don’t think I would want to own one.
Volunteer at the Vervet Monkey Foundation

I went to South Africa for “6 weeks” to volunteer at a Vervet Monkey Foundation…I ended up falling head over heels in love with 16 baby (well, toddler) monkeys and stayed for four months instead. They are beyond amazing, but are definitely not pets…I have the scars to prove it. They are so complex and emotional and have such varied personalities. I love them all. This is me with Karlito, my favorite little girl of the bunch.

Go visit a zoo in Thailand. For a few bucks you can hold any animal there you want :) – tigers, black bears, monkeys. I don’t think “liability” translates.

They had monkeys at a fair when I was younger. It was well-trained and it felt weird to have the weight of another living being on my lap, but it was cute. I got to hug it and take a picture with it too. :)

I love animals but always thought monkeys were scary. Maybe because of planet of the apes, who knows? A few months ago a friend had her 50 th birthday party at a wildlife sanctuary. I got to carry around a baby kangaroo in a cloth pouch and then made friends with a little monkey. I forget what kind but I fell in love. He was the most adorable thing I have ever seen. So smart and so human like. I will always cherish the time I spent with those animals.
