My grandma and I finally had our garage sale. I ended up with around $700, all of which went straight into my college fund! Whoo!
But I’ve found that I’m planning on going overseas. I really do need to get rid of my stuff.
How I did it: Make four piles of things - keep, sell, donate, throw away.
Throw away everything on the "throw away" pile, find a nearby charity that accepts donations of things and donate them the stuff from the third pile.
Then get or borrow a digital camera. Take pictures of the stuff that you want to sell. Look on ebay to see how much they usually sell for. Put your stuff on ebay for common prices, get rid of it and make some money!
You can also make a garage sale, but we don't have those in my country so I went for an auction.
Then donate the stuff that no one bought.
You're done! No more useless stuff.
Lessons & tips: If you haven't touched something for three years, you probably don't need it. You also don't need the clothes that you got too fat for five years ago. You can reward yourself by buying new clothes once you lose weight!
When selling stuff, find out how everything you can about online selling before you start. Make good quality pictures.
Resources: Google to find out tips about selling and motivational sites that help you get rid of useless stuff, ebay or your local auction site. A digital camera, borrow one if you don't have it.

Karoma is doing alright
I have done my desk drawers and threw out a whole trash bag worth of trash and stuff from when I was about 10 years old (Lisa Frank, lol).
I need to tackle my TV stand next, then my closet which will be a nightmare.
Ive started doing this. Im moving house at the end of the year then going overseas for a bit so i want to get rid of as much junk as possible so it is easier to move and so i have an excuse to buy stuff in Europe!

We still have some stuff in storage that will likely go to charity. I’ve cleaned out the closets and the kid’s rooms, and all the drawers. The only real “junk” section left is the attic, and getting stuff in and out of there is a pain. Since we have to move it all in a couple of months, I think I’m going to ignore it and do it all at once. “This goes, this doesn’t” sort of thing.
So for now, I think I’m done, even though I’m still in “get rid of it” mode.

I give up the challenge because there is NO way I can do it bythe end of the year. I’m going to start small :)

Yet another wasted weekend…... :\
I was told I could use the attic, but I don’t like our attic. And it’d be more hiding the junk that getting rid of it. I’d rather hide the junk in closets than the attic. I don’t like attics with fiberglass insulation.

Three more big trash bags of stuff out for charity pickup tomorrow morning. Now that the kids are pretty much out of the house, I cleaned out their old clothes & closets. Also cleaned out my coat closet & some drawers and added another large box of stuff from storage.
Most of the storage unit was for the business, and all of that is now gone. I have an apartment’s worth of furniture and stuff still in storage. Oldest son is getting his first apt this summer, and has asked for anything and everything useable, so that should clear out the storage unit.
One bright spot is that it is finally to a point where it is manageable. Still way too much stuff, but not overwhelmingly so.
My goal is to have at least one more big pile to charity before the end of the year. Hmmmm, I wonder what I’ve stuck up in the attic?

As soon as I get home, I’m probably going to go through the boxes in my closet. Now that I think about it, I think I might be able to start my recycling with this goal and the clean my room one. :3 I love doing harm to poor unsuspecting avians with less sedimentary rocks.
The main thing I’m afraid of happening is that I get sympathetic and keep it. However, I’m sure that object are nothing more than some sort of energy field that I’m perceiving.
This is gonna be hard.
