AaminahRaks is very easily distracted...mostly by shiny things!
So I volunteer with my mom every year at this annual 5k walk/run event in my town. Last year was the first time I actually participated (I walked) and I walked again this year. Even without training (of course I still workout on a regular basis) I was able to complete it in 40 mins and I just walked the whole time. my goal for next year is to walk/jog it.

Now I just have to be committed to training for it! six weeks to go.

I found one I want to do that takes place on 7/12 giving me just under 3 months to train… I have a couple of training workouts under my belt, but they’ve been difficult (painful, even) because I have gone from couch potato to training mode. I started out at a challenging but doable level, but I think the fact that I am jogging on all asphalt coupled with the fact that my shoes aren’t meant for running is not a good combo. I think I need some good running shoes, and to start out even slower, and probably I should cross train on a track and/or treadmill. We’ll see… I just want to be able to finish one and at least jog most of the time (if not the whole time).

at this point, just to be able to walk would be nice. But before the end of the year I’ll be up and jogging, hopefully!

Today I completed the calorie-count 5K. It was a virtual 5K. My time was 37:35. My goal was to be under 45 minutes

started training I can walk/run a 5K in 55 minutes-this was minimal effort expended.

I ran part of it (at least half) and walked the rest of it. I came in at 40:29. I plan on beating this time in future, when I complete another thing on my list – running a 5K!
