see Jimmy Buffett in concert

August 16th!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buffet gave a private performance at my company; he has been involved with a product we have been working on, so we have the inside track.

came out yesterday- and, unfortunately, there’s nothing close again. Like last year, Vegas is the nearest venue, and I’m not flying all the way there just to attend a concert.

I’ll check again later in the year to see if anything closer is added, but right now it looks like this goal is going to sit on my list for another year :(

I just came back from seeing Jimmy again. He did a mini-concert (three songs) and then answered questions.

Talked about the economy a lot; maybe he is confused about who he is.

Jimmy doesn’t have any concert dates that are anywhere close to me, and my sister and I are not going to make it to San Francisco for the October concert (she’s coming to Kansas instead, for my birthday). Maybe he’ll hit the Midwest next year. Or maybe I’ll have chance to travel to Margaritaville. I’m definitely not giving up forever.

P.S. I forgot to say that The Eagles are playing in Tulsa on 11/11, wouldn’t that be a fantastic birthday celebration!!!

my sister just called and was talking to me about what I wanted to do for my birthday. Her suggestion was that she and I take a weekend trip somewhere fun (and fairly cheap to get to). I mentioned that I might have a place to stay in the San Francisco area, courtesy of Mahinui and her beach house (if it doesn’t sell before then). Then I mentioned that if we went a couple of weeks before my birthday, we could see Jimmy Buffett in concert while we were there.

So, we’re going to think about it, and start checking into details, etc. One of the big questions is whether my sister will be able to get some time off of work, so she can go for more than a couple of days (especially since the concert is on a Tuesday). It will probably be Labor Day before she can make a decision, which might be too late to get concert tickets. Plus, if it happens to work out that we can go to Ketchikan (Alaska) to see my brother, that would definitely take priority.

Like I said, it’s a long shot, but…

I have no earthly idea why I’d ever want to spend good money to see his whiny ass on stage and listen to a couple hours of music that all sound exactly like Margaritaville in reverse or slower tempo.

Good thing I’m coming to my senses this week. ;)

And what better time than now, as part of this goal. It’s not going to happen if I don’t make it happen.

I’ve been going to Buffett concerts since 95. We usually hit 2-3 shows per tour. Although he usually plays very similar sets, each show is unique and GREAT!!! I hope the man never stops!!!
