I went to two World Cup matches when they were in the US (1994) with my family. It was only 2 matches, because that’s as far as Nigeria went (my father’s from there). It was really interesting to see how different nations cheer on their teams (and what they do to distract the opponents). I remember a bunch of Nigerians in green with big drums chanting “over the bar” whenever the opposing team tried to make a goal, though it took me a while to figure out what they were saying through the accents. I also remember that Argentina had some type of theme song. I’d do this again, now that I’m older, and won’t have to stick to the parents. :)
