Not sure exactly what I’ll do, but it’s worth trying tho set this goal and figure it out.

We had a rummage sale in August. It was definitely a first for us, but I’m not sure how fulfilling it was. We made $200 but it was a LOT of work and we still had tons of crap leftover. We did give about a third of it to charity (we should’ve given it all but I’m such a pack rat. What if we need it? What if we have another rummage some day? Ack! So it’s still taking up valuable space in our basement.) So that’s that.
It was in August that I went to a drive-in movie theater for the first time in decades. It was a lot of fun and I hope to go back another time this season plus several times next year.
I wasn’t successful getting in a new and fulfilling experience every month this year but I think this is a great goal because it gets me to think out of my usual routine and I end up doing more fun things than usual.
I will mark this one “giving up” for this year but will definitely reinstitute it next year.
Yesterday evening, I returned from my Florida travels. I hadn’t returned to Florida since I left in 2005, and frankly, I had not intended to return so soon. However, because of business demands, there is where I went.
While there, I learned new ideas, met new people, and sampled new restaurants – all on the company dime. I stayed at a lovely hotel, and there I felt pampered and safe.
The travel was grueling, and the trip was exhausting. However, the main thing is that I am home. A bonus is that I completed my objectives on the trip as far as attending the class. Even though I was ill for most of the trip, I feel I got good value from the class. More importantly, I proved to myself that I can function within the Florida state lines, and that not every time I visit will disaster befall me.

For the most part the month pretty much sucked.
The one new and fulfilling experience I had, was going to The Oaks in Ojai
for one week. It took me 12 years to get away by myself and I found that many of the women that I spoke to go there at least once a year.
I wish I was still there!

I visited UGA and I ate at a new restaurant.
angniks had a nice birthday...thank you :)
Erin started back to school in early August. So that put a crimp on any trips. Trying to think…..new and fulfilling…
Well, there’s this. This month I started up several new investments. Opened a second IRA, bought some CDs, shuffled some money into new funds. I have never had this much to play with so THAT is new and fulfilling. Plus we bought a Mercedes. Ha, sounds like I’m some sorta high roller. It was a ‘99, with 70,000 miles. In excellent condition though, well taken care of. Got it for a steal. I couldn’t be more pleased with it. (yes, I still have my minivan though, Marms, and GintheC)(I love my minivan)
So that’s about it, though. Money stuff. When school starts our lives settle into this sort of humdrum routine. School, work, homework, bath, dinner, maybe a movie and some shopping on the weekends, a daytrip to St. Auggies if we have a three day weekend. Whoop de doo. But hey, it’s life. Well, it’s MY life anyway. And it is fulfilling, if not always new and exciting.

Drat!! This last month has just been a grind, with work, and going back to school, and my son’s fender-bender. It hasn’t been the greatest month, and there’s only two days left with nothing on the horizon but work and chores around the house.
June and July were good months, though. I’ll have to adopt a similar goal for later in the year, when things have calmed down and I will have a chance to have some fun.

Back to the real world. My summertime love (friend) just called and said he realizes he wants to keep his life the way it was. I have encouraged him all along to reconcile his 29 year marriage so part of me is very happy for him…
but I will miss his fun visits and our exploring the wilderness together. His friendship has always been good for me. One of God’s blessings in my life.
It was a fun summer here in the wilderness …wonder what the holidays will be like?
