I should have one in Education by 2011.

The sooner the better... 5 months ago

After getting my Bachelors I started working full time and was considering getting my Masters. Since I was used to the fast pace busy life of college and my job at the time was only 40 hours a week I started taking classes. I soon decided to work full time and finish my Masters. The rest is history!
I recommend that if you want to complete your Masters you do it soon after completing your undergrad and have a time frame in mind to work towards to complete your degree.

I want to get a Masters in Classics so I can continue on and get a Ph.D.

I’ve been accepted, and just am just waiting on funding now!

The things I love about Academics are that you are constantly learning and working toward new goals, and each day brings something new!

I have 5 classes left, I’ll do 3 more this year, and finish in the middle half of 2010. Almos there. I don’t know if in my current position a masters degree is going to mean a whole lot. Oh well it will give me the abilty to go elsewhere…put it on the resume at least.

I started it! 17 months ago

I dropped out of high school when I was 17 in the 11th grade. I went on to get my GED and then a nursing degree. I have since gone back to school to get a bachelors degree in education and even graduated #1 in my class. I started my master’s degree but stopped to work more and earn more money. Now it is time to get back to it but not sure if I can. I would really like to be able to walk down that aisle with my gown and hood on to become the first in my family to obtain a masters!

wohoo :) 20 months ago

My diploma arrived in the mail this week. Shame I didn’t get to have a proper ceremony, but it didn’t seem worth flying to the other side of the world to do. Maybe I’ll have a few drinks with some friends and buy a cheap frame.

I’ve gotten my thesis approved by my advisor, now it’s with the second reader, and when that’s done, if it all works out, I graduate in January :)

got my comments back from my thesis advisor. It is the most personal and awful feedback I’ve ever received on written work I think. I know that because it is so inconsistent with any other feedback I have been given that it is down to her insecurities and not my writing that they are like that, but it’s still hard – hard not to take it personally, hard to motivate myself to keep going when I know she is impossible to please, that the changes will not improve it in my eyes, hard to have to read through it all again in detail in order to make the changes.

Still, after all this effort, there is no way I am giving up now.

And no, I can’t find another supervisor, I already tried asking 8 or so other people before I had to ask her. And no, the course director won’t help me.

I hate school 2 years ago

Yep, still. I want the degree, but good lord sitting in class from 6 to 10 at night aren’t my idea of a good time after I work all day.

Done all my coursework... 2 years ago

and a draft of my thesis. Waiting for my advisor to send me comments on it so I can finish it. I won’t finish it till I get back home to Australia though (from New York). Deadline is in mid December.
