11 people want to do this.

See if I can turn my all-pervasive and nearly revolting global cynicism into something approximating a positive outlook.

I can’t.

But apparently I can turn it into a rapier-like wit.

Positive is such a strong word…but I suppose I’m less pessimistic now, so this is being marked as done.

White People Suck! 3 years ago

I’ve taken so many history classes, and I’ve come up with one simple conclusion. White people suck ass. We manipulated, enslaved, degraded, and f*cked over pretty much every other race. I am white and definatly not proud. There are so many screwed up things in life it is hard not to have Extensional depression. Oh well, at least I have my mary jane!

Victories 4 years ago

Yes, it’s important to catalog victories, and to recognize tactics that do work.

The challenge is on. The Man has evolved his tactics to render ‘political protests’ (in the 1960s sense) a largely ineffective excercise.

While the pigs are busy rolling out Ultra Low Frequency sound weapons, microwave beams for crowd control, bean bag shotguns and the like, the well meaning kids on the street are still using street tactics developed a hundred years ago.

It’s time to update the playbook. This is a great space for creative minds to start making a positive difference. If you want a positive outlook, man, you’ve got to use your head.

It's all about the blues 4 years ago

in today’s world of creeping totalitarianism, it can seem overwhelming to try to fight for the right, not for the wrong. To counter this, you have to connect yourself to a blues tradition.

Because when you understand the tradition of the blues, the history of a people’s struggle against opression, and accept a part in that struggle, you can throw down for something bigger than yourself.

The struggle that the world faces today has been built up over many generations. And to cultivate a long-term positive outlook is to recognize that this struggle is necessarily something that takes not just your lifetime, but generations of sustained struggle.

If you’re at all progressive and optimistic today you’re just deluding yourself. But if you come from a blues perspective, you realize that it has never looked good.
