...in order to focus on marathon training. In any case, I don’t think I can consider being a “pace rabbit” til about 2008 and I have three or four marathons under my belt already.
To my chagrin, my marathon goal time is something like 5h15min based on my half marathon time.
There’s no way that I want to be running more than 4h30min for the Paris marathon so I need to focus focus FOCUS.
Hop away bunny, we’ll meet again soon.

...you need to do a Google search to find a post you made:

And that was the third try :-o
I knew that I’d already thought out my marathon training and didn’t want to recreate the wheel. The Google exercise makes me think that I’m splitting off too many running goals though.
Some consolidation/prioritization seems to be in order.

...after I finish my half marathon in September I’ll do a 3 week speed program that I’ve been holding on to from Runner’s World online.
Then, I’m going to follow that up with a 10K training program to improve my 10K pace…
http://www.getrunready.ca/english/training/index.html
I’m thinking the 55 minute program is what I should be aiming for, but I’ll chop off the first week of training to make it a 12 week program.
All told, that’s 15 weeks of speed training. That leaves about three months (12 weeks) to train up to the Paris marathon in April.
Hmmm, hindsight tells me to flip my speedwork training so that I do the 10K portion first and then the 3 week program. Going from 10K to marathon doesn’t seem kosher.

...maybe the rest of this summer I run my races with rabbit ears and a shirt that says:
A) Pace Rabbit in Training
B) Funny Pace Bunny
C) Playboy logo with PACE
Oh, a tail would be splendid but I think that just may be overboard on the props perhaps.
“A” gives me room to mess up without having runners swear at me while “B” would be fun for the kids. “C” is scandalous and would likely distract and/or confuse (i.e. “You mean to tell me she’s associated with Playboy? Must…cancel…subscription.”)

...I’ve come upon a new term: pace rabbit.
In some of the more organized long distance races (i.e half marathon and up) there are special runners who sign up to help the race participants keep up with a desired pace.
Like the greyhounds chasing the rabbit around the track, racers are to follow the pace rabbit (but not pass them, well, unless you want to beat your desired time) to the end.
What a cute idea and now that I think about it, a fun way to help train up to ultras.
I suppose I could be a pace rabbit now…if anyone wanted to finish a marathon in 18h30m :-) But before I turn 35, I’d like to be a 3h45m pace rabbit or up to a 4h15m pace rabbit.
