I am going to take the two old brothers in a nursing home a puzzle. I met them on Father’s Day when I took baskets to random people.
When I asked one of the brothers what he wanted in this world.. he said “a puzzle with a wrapper on it”. He was tired of the hand me downs with missing pieces. He showed me one on his table that he put together with 2 missing pieces. Just a puzzle.. that’s all he wants in this world.
Start the year right… Give.

It was a great day… It only cost $70. That was dirt cheap. I have spent way more that that on things that didn’t matter. Doing a goal like this is about emotion and telling those old men thanks… We told each one that they were important in this world and we thanked them for everything they did for us and our generation.

Two brothers lived in the same room… all they wanted was a puzzle with all the pieces. The one they had was put together but missing one piece. I will be back.
We spent a lot more time today with the men than the women (there were 67 of them.. and only 17 men). They asked me to take their photo.. that is why I did. They were so happy. I have never felt a feeling like that before… it was tremendous. It’s exactly what I expected.

Kind and Generous
You’ve been so kind and generous, I don’t know how you keep on giving
For your kindness I’m in debt to you
For your selflessness, my admiration
For everything you’ve done, you know I’m bound, I’m bound to
thank you for it….
You’ve been so kind and generous, I don’t know how you keep on giving
For your kindness I’m in debt to you
And I never could have come this far without you
For everything you’ve done, you know I’m bound, I’m bound to
thank you for it….
I want to thank you for so many gifts you gave with love and tenderness,
I wanna thank you
I want to thank you for your generosity, the love and the honesty that you gave me
I want to thank you, show my gratitude, my love and my respect for you,
I wanna thank you
Oh I want to thank you, thank you, thank you,
thank you, thank you, thank you…

I spoke with my partner in crime tonight.
Here is the plan: we will meet Saturday and start putting together baskets for 17 old men at the retirement home. She called today to get the count and the administrator was so excited about us coming again… she said that our Mother’s Day flowers made a tremendous impact on the women there. The little old ladies were talking about it for days. That is awesome.
We will do baskets (diabetic friendly, mind you)… we will have something like crackers, some game.. (we are still working out the specifics).. since there are only 17 men, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Do something random for someone this Father’s Day… come join us.. I dare you.

There are 17 men at Briarwood Nursing Home. There were 67 old ladies at this location when we randomly delivered flowers to them on Mother’s Day… I guess it’s true: women really do live longer than men! =(
When I was there for Mother’s Day… I only took one photo… this was it. This picture summed up the entire moment… an old forgotten person sitting in a wheel chair looking out the window. – that is why I do this.
