He did autograph signings for a few of his solo US tour stops in 2003. On the day of the Dallas concert, my sister and I left early, because she had a surprise for me before the show. Hmm…
It turned out that she had heard about the autograph signing and was taking me to Tower Records so I could meet Dave!
He was really sweet, although I could have kicked myself for just saying hi and thanking him! I wish I had told him how he had inspired me to start singing again, to write lyrics and to have a band, but I was afraid of sounding like a crazy fan girl or saying something he’d heard a thousand times before.
Maybe there will be a next time so I can tell him those things. If not, I’m just ecstatic that I got to meet one of my role models and get his autograph! (Sadly, photographs weren’t allowed.)
