marnajune is getting sweeter
A divorce cost me my excellent credit score. But I am rebuilding it back up with a new credit card.. And a new positive attitude.
How I did it: Pay student loans on time. Put things on department store credit cards that you could have paid for upfront (not anything you couldn't have afforded in full at that moment!), and then pay the total balance on time. Use Quicken or other financial software to keep better track of all of your accounts.

Now this one will be a tough one! I will start by getting a copy of each of my 3 credit reports to verify all infomation on it is correct. I’ll contact the CR companies and credit companies to have any errors corrected. Once I’ve completed my budget plan in a few months, I’ll get current copies of my report again and work with any creditors where there is an outstanding balance as money allows. Even if I tackle each item one at a time I’m still working towards repair!
1. Get my credit report, find out exactly what all is on there that I need to fix that I may be forgetting.
2. Pay off the apartment I had when I was pregnant with Ariel.
3. Pay off my old T-Mobile cell.
4. Pay off my old credit card.
5. Finish paying off medical bills.
6. Finish paying off school loans.
Rebuild credit:
1. Get a low-interest credit card.
2. Get a new cell phone in my name.
3. Put my car in my name alone.
4. Have more income coming in and less debt going out. (In other words: budget!)

Visited credit union yesterday, and they’re working on getting the credit-card-in-good-standing onto my credit report. Won’t be amazingly helpful, but hey, it’s a start!

...and it’s looking sad. One good thing: I noticed that a credit card in very good standing is not listed. So I can call them and ask that they make a report that I’m an okay gal. We’ll see what that does.

For all my uniqueness, for all my successes, for all my efforts, hours worked per week (90 sometimes!), and passion….again, for all my uniqueness…it’s amazing that when I want to push forward with something, it all comes down to a flippin’ number that defines my financial (and thereby social) worth.
My ex-husband of a mere 6 months now was in charge of all the finances. Never again will I let someone take the reins…it’ll be okay for someone to take the lead, but I’ll never remain in the dark again, especially when everything’s under my name because I’m the one with the good credit. (Which should have been a red flag to begin with.)
I made the mistake of trying to rebuild my credit by applying for credit. But declined application after declined application has made matters worse, because now I have “too many inquiries” on my credit report.
I think this goal is going to be a years-long one. A year of bills paid on time and debt paid down to prove I’m not financially worthless. Patience. ARGH.
this is a new day and a new beginning…..fortunately my apt is in contract so the money is close to being in my hand….Debts are somewhere near $120,000. after the close on my Apt…..$0 debt…...now to find somewhere to live….and life goes on…...
My goal is to spend the next year paying off the debt I consumed while trying to start a life with my ex everyone warned me that opening myself up and putting my credit on the line for him was not a smart idea and at the time I didn’t want to listen now here I am in about 8,000 dollars worth of debt 3 kids a part time job a wedding to plan with the new man in my life and i have no clue where to start. Please tell me it gets easier and less stressful.
Okay it is not exactly the best score but it is better than I though 591 i put 500 in a cd and the bank gave me a 200 loan in the cd that of sets interest I have made two payments and there is 22 more to go
