but I definitely enjoyed the outdoors the last couple days. It has been crazy weather in my area all winter. Sleet ontop of snow made a 1/4 inch thick sheet of ice. Everytime I find I nice clear spot I go and stomp around. It makes a great crunching sound (My sis commented on the strange noise) when I made a circuit around the house. It made me feel young at heart. Why do we avoid these things as adults? Fear of embaressment?

I went outside where both my kitties were. They seem to like having their people outside with them. I walked barefoot in a circuit around the outside of the house (no fences in Webster). Kitties watched me until I turned the corner and became obscured by the house; then they would come tearing around the corner at full speed. I love the big grassy yard we have even if we are on a corner lot. So many trees for kitties to try and climb. It was nice.
There was a great woman I knew when I moved to New York City 30 years ago who took long walks along the Hudson no matter what the weather. She was doing this even at the age of 104. She said she loved the feel of the universe on her skin. Annie had been a ballet dancer in her youth. Wrote poetry. Went to the south to fight discrimination/segregation. Always made a point of having whoever she spoke with leaving with a smile.
I made my cat join me outside for my morning coffee. Our porch needs to be cleared off. It was nice out since there has been so much rain lately. I think upstate NY is just beautiful outside (more so in suburbia than the inner city).

With minus twenty five, you’ve got to be kidding.

Geez, I sound like such a nerd. But I’m so excited to have found some nature trails near G’s house. Very near G’s house! I went walking there today and they lead through field and woods…met some people and their dogs. I also took a path that led to a huge stand of tall cedars, and once inside, it felt like I was in a Lord of the Rings movie, now all I need is the Falls of Rauros to complete the picture. Also a gorgeous copse of birch, and some sumac turning bright red. Heaven!!! I emailed G to ask him to come home early so I can take him somewhere near here. He loves nature, but seldom gets out to enjoy it.

My brother is visiting from Texas, and we both like walking in the woods. I was staring out of the window at the heavy downpour, and he said, “Are you going for a walk?”, grinning sarcastically. I said, “Yes,” (because of this goal)...and he said, without missing a beat, “I’ll go with you.” We had a wonderful, hour long walk in the pouring rain. It smelled gorgeous in the woods…we talked, we were silent, and it was rejuvenating in many ways.

I’ve learned that many of my coworkers go walking at lunch, so if I join them, this will get me outside much more often. There’s a really nice treed subdivision near our building, and I’ve been out walking both days of my placement, so this is a bonus! I do prefer my run/walks in the woods near home though.

It’s been really warm lately…about 19 C today, so I’ve been out running in the woods as frequently as I can. I am so very happy that spring is here!

I ate one outside today because it was plus 10 C!!! Lovely sunshine, lovely blue sky, lovely melting snow, lovely honking geese returning home, lovely lovely Coffee Crisp! But I’m not done linking…see my goal “Love myself”
