Rice, Rice, Rice. It seems that is all I hear about these days. Everyone is all up on the stuff. I like it, but I am keen on the grain for the health aspects.
Why do you guys like rice? Also, do you make a point to buy Organic rice?
I find Jasmine to be my favorite, and only the real stuff with a rice cooker will do. Any other favorites out there?
Rock on and munch away!
I feel that rice is the next culinary frontier, like wine and sun dried tomatoes were in the nineties. I aim to mother the rice revolution of the 2010s. Any takers?
Yummy. Cheap. Adaptable. Nutritious. What’s not to love about rice. It will likely be one of the first “real” foods my daughter eats.
Do yourself a favor: don’t mess around with minute rice. Get the real deal.
Do yourself another favor: spring for a rice cooker. It doesn’t save you that much time, but it makes the exercise fire-and-forget (i.e. easy and doesn’t need close monitoring), and thus make you more likely to eat it. Plus, they aren’t that expensive.
Rice is quickly becoming one of my favorite things in the world. I’ve always enjoyed it for dinner, but increasingly eat it for lunch in the form of a stir-fry-ish dish. Earlier this year my mind was blown with a taste of rice pudding, and today I had my first rice dish for breakfast:
1 bowl leftover rice (brown, short-grain)
1 cup lite coconut milk
1 handful raisins
Let this sit for a while, then heat it up. This could easily become a staple in my diet, chasing out oatmeal for a place in my stomach.
Anyway, I feel healthy when I eat rice… wholesome. I’d like to do more of that.
