Well, I dispayed my first piece. It was at the Art Center. Barely finished in time. Had to makeshift the mat & frame -added temporary side borders to make it fit in an existing frame (will definitly have to redo) It is a Babystep -Next I’d really like to have a full body of work to display.

Having my art displayed in a gallery for the first time was bittersweet. It was great to accomplish a dream and certainly a step in the right direction (towards local respect and recognition as an artist). However, I also found it to be anticlimactic. None of my friends or family went to the opening and the placement of my pieces wasn’t great (actually, I hated the placement). I just wandered around the gallery feeling rather lonely. For now, I’m trying to focus on the positive: I did something towards my dream.

I work in a beautiful art gallery now. I dont think i have a chance of getting anything displayed here but at least i have motivation to create more. =]
I’ve got to make the time to create. I did paintings for my family for Christmas. This is a start. Actually I’m still working on one of the pieces for one of my brothers and I’ve only sketched out the one for my parents, but it is a start.
I only sold one of the four pieces that day – I’ll upload it here so you can see the work – but it felt good that it was purchased as a gift for the gallery owner, because she’d commented on how much she liked it. :o)
The above piece was included in a show/sale at The Matrix Arts gallery here in Sacramento.
Makes ya feel good – like your art means something to someone.
