I finally did it! 2 years ago

Tristan’s brother lives in Colorado springs and his wife flew us all out there to surprise him. I’ve heard stories about Pikes Peak and couldn’t wait to see it. The first two days we were there it was so foggy the peak was invisible. It was a little eerie to me imagining this huge towering mountain right in front of me (or above me) but I couldn’t see it. I was so disappointed! Then on the third day, I woke up and looked out the window and it was amazing. It’s so big. There’s not even words to describe how impressed I was. We went to Garden of the Gods and I stared up at the mountain the whole time. I have this mental image of myself standing on the top of that peak and looking beyond it to the Rockies stretched out forever. I fell so in love with Pikes Peak I decided to move out there. I don’t know when but someday I want to live in Colorado. I think it would be very humbling and inspiring to wake up to that sight every day. It was hard to leave buton the way home, we flew directly over the Rockies! I was like a little kid on the plane. I was practically glued to the window the entire time. What an amazing perspective! I’ll never forget it!

We took a trip to Flagstaff last week. The road up there was awful. I took a lorazepam and still had to do deep breathing. But the vacation was great! I LOVE Tristan’s family! We had a huge picnic in the park and Granny showed me pictures of Tristan as a kid. We had such a good time that we made plans to go back up in a couple weeks and go fishing. And we’re all taking a trip to the Grand Canyon before school starts again, so I guess I’d better get used to the drive. Either that or stock up on sleeping pills.

I have a fascination with mountains. Probably due to living in the valley all my life. I simply can’t imagine anything that big! I have a dream of standing at the foot of some huge mountain range and looking up in wonder. Unfortunately I have an horrific phobia of driving on mountain roads. I can’t even get out of Phoenix without a valium. I’m hoping to see the Rockies next year after I get married, but we’ll have to get a plane ticket.
