I came in 2nd place for one of my dishes at the National Soul Food Competition in Oklahoma in June. My saugage and okra dish had everyone singing about what love is. I have now created a new dish called “Baked Love” a quick lunch, brunch or dinner made easy and healthy with my saugage and okra individual pastry dish.
I named each of my entries: my drink in misc category was called “Joy” came in 1st, the meat category was my saugage and okra, came in 2nd, was called “Love”, the vegetable category was my black eye peas, was called “Happiness”came in 3rd and the decoration category, my table came in 1st, was called “Beautiful and Red. And “Peace” made all of this happen and that is me.
I am a grand mother and I want a new challenge in my life, so I want to enter the Pillsbury Bake Off to introduce “Baked Love”, it might help change the world. All kidding aside, no I enjoyed the Soul Food Competition and would like to enter more competitions. 19 months ago
I AM A CERTIFIED CHEF AND I HAVENT COOKED SINCE 2001 WHEN I LOST MY MOTHER DUE TO CANCER. I ALWAYS SAID ONCE MY CHILDREN WERE GROWN THAT I WOULD ENTER COOKING CONTEST NOT FOR THE MONEY BUT FOR THE JOY OF COOKING (BY THE WAY LOVE THE BOOK). I COME FROM A LINE OF COOKS IN MY FAMILY AND I’VE BEEN COOKING FULL COURSE MEALS SINCE THE AGE OF 8YRS OLD.
WELL MY CHILDREN ARE ALL GROWN NOW AND I’M STARTING MY LIFE OVER FOR MYSELF AND I REMEMBERED WHAT I SAID YEARS AGO ABOUT DOING COOKING CONTEST…SOO I WANT TO ENTER A BAKE OFF!!
I’VE STARTED BAKING CAKES, CHEESECAKES, AND PIES..JUST TO GET BACK INTO THE SWING OF THINGS..I MUST SAY AT FIRST I WAS EATING MY GOODIES BUT AFTER AN IMMEDIATE WEIGHT GAIN OF 12LBS I LEARNED TO JUST TASTE AND THEN GIFT MY DESSERTS AWAY..IT MAKES PEOPLE SMILE TO HAVE HOME BAKE FOOD..ESPECIALLY SINCE WE’RE ALL ABOUT COOKING IT THE FASTEST WAY OR TAKE OUT FOOD..
ANYWAYS…I AM LOOKING FOR HOW TO GET THE PROCESS GOING FOR ENROLLING IN THE BAKE OFF…ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Usually entries are due in October, but it looks like they were due in April this year. I will keep it in mind for the future… 4 years ago

I’ve started working on a recipe for a baked apple-bourbon pudding that so far is tasting fabulous. I love apples and bourbon together. Needs work, though… 5 years ago
I, too, found myself watching the special late one night, or more like early morning…and was inspired to create some recipes! My motivation, sorry to say, is mostly financially based. I could do a lot with the $1 million prize money! Don’t get me wrong, I love to cook and have created some dishes in the past, but that’s about as far as it went. I was bummmed about the contest occuring every 2 years, also.
