I did an 8 km walk on the wall, climbing a total of 30 towers. Breathtaking and well worth it!!!!!
Peking Backpackers Hostel is the safest bet if you are in Beijing.
AineHenderson is rediscovering the past
I was young at the time, but even haveing this as a memory I know that it was worth it. I was pretty little and we went during winter, the winds were so strong I had to hold my family’s hands. I got a t-shirt there for about a dollar, and to this day (currently actually) I wear that shirt. People often look at my shirt and think it’s something I purchased at a department store.
My advice is go. Go to China, it’s worth it, in the cultural differences and rich food and just as a whole, its all worth it.
Tranquility is the word that comes to my mind at the moment.
The mist lightly dusts the mountains and grows on into the sky, thousands of people walk by and never stop to ponder why. We walk together step by step the steps overlap the deep triumph of the ones before us…. (What were these people like) Maybe those who walk the mountain each day to feed their families can attempt to touch the lost souls of their country, but could I? Life and emotions drive us forward.
I sit here and see so many faces, faces of the people I will never see again, who they are I will never know. Maybe that’s why humanity is such a wonderful thing.
Mothers, Fathers, Sisters and Brothers take the steps together in search for what was left behind.
Searching for what I will never know. Where is the soul, is it in our hearts?
I want my soul to be on fire.
I want to touch the past and feel the lives of those who I cant see or touch.
Power of the mind, just power.
EARTH, PEOPLE, SKY. (and the faint chirp of the birds in the distance.)
I must go…....
