see sonic youth

I finally got to see Sonic Youth, and I hate myself for saying this but I was let down. It was not at all what I had expected..and it’s cool they’re experimenting with new sound and everything but I really wasn’t feeling the 15 minutes straight of feedback sounds. Hope your shows are better!

I saw them in São Paulo on 2005. The sound was bit weak, but they rocked. It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen! Totally worth it!

I saw them in Portland two or three times in the 90s, and once at an outdoor concert in Berkeley. Any group of musicians who has been playing and improvising together on an almost daily basis for 25 years is likely worth seeing. While you could argue they are no longer innovating, watching them communicate together is very much worth while. Even if you own all of their recordings, including the live shows and bootlegs, they are worth seeing perform, as there is some magic that goes on between them that is not captured on tape.
