How I did it: Selected some plants from local nursery and bought a two shelf zip up greenhouse. PLanted the tomatoes along with a courgette plant in a grow bag at start of the summer - crop just maturing now. The sweetcorn we grew was much better. Read how I did it…

How I did it: In late June I just planted the seeds outside in a sunny sheltered border and pretty much left them to their own devices. Never needed to water them but it probably would have helped, now picking the ripe fruits each day. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I bought a pot and grew some tomatoes, but the crop didn't come out very well and we basically got one salad out of it. Obviously I was never cut out to be a gardener. But I guess I'm happy that I get to know that fact about myself. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I bought two small plants and put them in giant pots on my back deck where I knew they'd get lots of light. I read up on how to pot them, stake them, and how often to water them. I tended to them constantly and ended up with a lot of tasty tomatoes. Read how I did it…

The beefsteak tomatoes are the best tomatoes I have ever had in my life. The roma tomatoes are mealy and not yummy. I wonder if there is an heirloom roma tomato that would have more flavor. I still have tomatoes ripening on the vine (as the entire plant starts to fade away). Marking this as done…..time to concentrate on the beans, pumpkin & watermelons!
I just went out and picked the tops off of my basil. I came inside and made a salad with the basil and the tomatoes. I added a bit of mayo and some celtic sea salt. It was so delicious!! Yummy!
Collector of junk and lots more Moving some time in the next millineum.
We grow tomatoes every year. We have 6 plants this year and have already given away more tomatoes than we grew the last 2 years combined.

Someone from the neighborhood stopped to talk to me the other day as I was gardening. She tasted the basil and the tomatoes. She told me that what I had was a Victory Garden, like the ones that were grown during World War 2

Another man came by today and talked to me about my garden. He started off by saying “someone knows how to have fun!”. He said that seeing people growing their own food gave him hope for the future. He talked about how all of the others in the neighborhood were just wasting their water growing ornamentals. I agree with him. He is an officer at a church down the street and said that he talks to the members of the church about growing their own food as well.
