maryanjd is getting over bronchitis but looking forward to the Easter break.
Have the pattern, have the materials, just need the confidence to take it one step at a time and do it!
How I did it: I had a pair of denim shorts that didn't fit me right, but I still liked them, so I cut the crotch apart and then cut it so the hem was even and sewed up the flaps. Then for added flair i ripped up the bottom a bit and sewed some sequins on in places. It ended up looking neat, and then later when it was too small, i gave it to a friend who was impressed to be wearing something i had made. Read how I did it…

miss_megan is gaining some perspective
Okay, this one’s been sitting here for quite some time now. And technically it’s been accomplished, as I made one a few months ago for a friends 50s themed birthday (a poodle skirt – so great!) but I sort of had everyday-wear in mind when I created this goal.
So now, with Summer approaching, I really want to make some simple, pretty skirts, and finally cross this one off :)
little_miss_living Absolutly nothing
I almost successfully have finished a corset. I had this white ruffles at the bottom but they looked horrid so I ripped them off. Trying to figure out how to fit it to me perfectly right now. I didnt use any patterns so that is the diffuclty there.
Sooo i’v got a pink top that i brought. I realy like the colour. & at Easter me & some friends are going out for the night as bunnys, going to turn it into a skirt, & fix my little white tail on to it :). So this isnt a very serious project, but got to start somewhere. I’d love to learn to make everyday skirts, & going to looking into this, ones that fit me well & are individual, not like any old one you can buy in shops…well summers just around the corner! :) no better time than the present.
Hello I am an illustrator and have never made my own skirt before and really want someone to give me some advice on where to start.
I’ve got the pattern, now just need to obtain material etc. I can’t wait to have a go!
It took me almost a month to do, but I knit a skirt. I was so happy I bought a pair of shoes to go with – but I think I’m going to frog it and reknit it with a different yarn…

I made my skirt yesterday. Painless and I love it. I’m thinking of making a Summer dressing gown next…Dreadful photo & you can hardly see the skirt but I am jumping for joy, not just afflicted! Self timed photos are hysterical maybe I should do a whole set of them just incase my ego ever got too inflated!

I brought the material, zip, cotton and a pattern today. Now I will try and coax my antique sewing machine back to life. Love the material it is linnen with what looks like water colour flannel flowers painted on it.
