I know there are probably a million things I still don’t know, but I have the idea now, so I just have to get started making one of my own!
How to learn to scrapbook
How I did it: I made my first scrapbook about 10 years ago. I was invited to a cropping session with my friend Amanda and some of the ladies from her church. I was a little overwhelmed by all the tools that they brought, but I decided to jump right in. I used some stamps and some edging scissors . . . and the result was a horribly ugly monstrosity that I ended up taking apart. But after that night, I was completely hooked. I started scrapping with some other girlfriends and everywhere that I have moved I have met other creative women who love to scrap. Last year I decided to turn my passion into a business and I started my company Scrapbook Fairy. I now make completely customized scrapbooks for people who don't have the time or the inclination for scrapbooking. I love sharing my favorite hobby with other enthusiasts. Check out my website, www.scrapbookfairy.net and blog, www.scrapbookfairy1.blogspot.com.
Lessons & tips: Don't be afraid to try new things. You don't have to buy everything in a scrapbook supply store for it to look cool on a page. Also, don't be afraid to cut your photos. Sometimes it even improves the image.
Resources: Talk with other women who scrap. Share ideas and inspiration.

firepoppy becoming a better version of me!
Obviously, I still have a lot to learn, but I have comple]ted 3 layouts and am onto my 4th. The first has photographs of me from my professional photo shoot in April 2004. The second page is pictures of my friend Lisa. The 3rd was pictures of me just before my 21st birthday party. I’m working on one which has photos of me from age 17 to 22 to show how I’ve changed. I also want to do one of me and my boyfriend.

I’ve bought my basic supplies this week and I’m going to a class on Saturday.
Well, I’m sure they do… I’ll have to find one in Omaha when I move.

I bought one of those rolling organizers, and put most of my supplies in there, so now everything’s in one place. I have my paper, scissors, stickers, and a set of stamps I got at Costco.

Thus far, I haven’t done much toward a finished page, let alone a book. I’ve been to one home presentation where I played with some cropping tools. I’ve bought stickers, papers, and embellishments here and there when I’ve seen something I like. I also bought a few magazines several months back, mostly for the text aspect/journaling ideas.
Another aspect of this project that I need to do is get my photos organized. My son’s need to be done chronologically, and everything else can probably go by theme (travel, homestead, friends, etc.).
It’s a much more interesting way to look at your photos. I’ve also found that I take pictures differently than I did before I began scrapbooking. Now I’m thinking of the story I want to tell while taking the photos. It’s a very satisfying hobby.
This week I’ll be attending my fifth class, and it’s quite fun. :)
All I need was the right software. It’s easy to make scrapbook. The programs have so many design for me to choose from.
