I want to strengthen my illustration skills.
Last night I worked on developing the characters, it will be challenging to keep them looking the same throughout all pages.
This goal is going to take me months I think.

I am working hard on this one. I am just a bit worried about the costs. Perhaps the next issue should be a black and white one, just for the sake of saving money ;)
Does anyone have a tip about where to print.

I created three online zines already but I want to create one printed zine, as a last edition.

I really want to create a zines primarily to have an excuse to bind something. My inspiration was Ariel Gore’s How to Become a Famous Writer before you’re Dead.

I have an idea 21 months ago

My son has been prodding me to work on a zine with him for some time now. I think he mainly needs production help. I can do that. I have an idea for a zine of my own, but if we can produce something nice together first, then I will feel more confident to move forward with my own thing.

It’s the way forward. I live in the Bay Area outside of SF. I miss the CA where i grew up and folks were creative and raw. It is so bloody expensive and crowded here that finding a group keen on raising kids and maintaining heartfelt immediate creativity and community – it’s difficult!

A brand new women’s snowboarding zine is in the works. In fact, it’s the FIRST women’s snowboarding printed zine!

While it was initially my idea, things really took off when others were interested in seeing the project through. I think that is the key component of ANY zine you want to start. Dedicated, impassioned people interested in a niche market! Otherwise, a single person may not have the strength or means to see their dreams become a reality.

If you have any questions about creating a zine, I’d love to help out in any capacity I can.

I've done this, but... 3 years ago

this is the hardest thing in the world to do on a consistant basis—I was making one for a while, and it was going well (we had 3 consecutive issues, called Moon Chick, it was awsome), and then I made one of my own when the other one fell through. Mine is called Liquidwafflegirl, the name of EVERYTHING I do, so be on the look out for my next issue (the last issue came out in May 2004)...
