I remember seeing a video of Phoenix in geography class when I was about 14. I decided on that day that I wanted to visit. It is something that I have still not done but I will, one day.

I’m here in Phoenix for my nephew’s bar mitzvah. My sister-in-law’s family lives here; my brother used to live here too.
I like the desert quite a bit, and the desert here is lusher than around Las Vegas. You just have to keep on drinking water all day long.
Upside of Phoenix, as a place to visit, is that it might be warm and sunny whereas where you came from might not be. I came here for my SIL wedding in early spring when I was living in upstate New York. It was like a blessing to come from icy cold and snow into the colors and warmth of the desert. I should have stayed a couple more days after the wedding, rather than rush back home.
Downside of Phoenix: it’s a car town.
