Lydia is working on a commission art piece that needs to get done fast!
I’ve wanted to do this for about 6 years now. 5 years ago I was sort of offered an opportunity, but I didn’t take it at the time. I think only because I was scared. Yesterday I contacted a friend of mine to see about getting hired to do merch for the summer. I’m really pumped that this will work out.

Hello everyone,
I have toured with many bands and will be touring all summer. Two years ago I knew nothing about touring or the music industry at all but I have a solid grasp now. Things you need to know. First touring your first or second time out can be expensive so plan your tour 6 months in advanced be ready to float the cost of getting promotions out there (you get invited back and better money if you promote). Second try to play your local set for that 6 months so you can have a healthy band fund. Also check out www.theunionrecords.net Hit List for the best advice on booking, promotions, radio play, and lots of other tips.

Music is my favorite thing in the world. I would love to travel and be involved with music. It would be like a dream for me. I’m not exactly sure how to go by doing this, but hopefully it will get done in the future.

We hit Williams Lake, Prince George, Vanderhoof, Smithers and Kitimat, BC. There were shows at schools, churches, halls and youth centres, and we drank lots of beers with lots of peoples…turns out I’m a better merch salesman after about 8 or 9 Pilsners.

I am getting older… no longer in my 20’s, but I still want to tour with a band, at least once…. even if it’s a small tour…
I have a band, but all the members are younger and in college…
But if we can get a CD recorded, maybe we could tour one summer coming up.
I think it will be worth it, especially based on everything I have read here.

music is my buddah, it keeps me calm. it can make me feel all these emotions, but i’m not one of those people that will say 0MG G3R@Rd W@Y Own$ My So0ul. or they saved my life. i’m not that dramatic. but i would like to travel, with everso talented people. to get away from here. and have fun while doing it. i’ll merch, but merch girls are usually skinny and gorgeous, both of which, i’m not. nor am i close friends with anyone in a band.

so, i would love to tour with a band, any band, as long as i like them. i dont’ care what i do as long as i’m there. traveling the country with a bunch of talented people, would be amazing. but, selling merch wouldn’t be too too fun but i could deal.
working at/for warped would be really fun in my opinion, but i know that if i ever did. i don’t think i would ever come home.
this is probably one of my most shallow things to do, but it’s something i would love to experience.

My high school went on interstate band tours twice while I was there, 2000 and 2002. Interstate meant flying or by boat, because our state is an island. The first time I went as part of a choir, the second as the tenor saxophonist. It was my birthday on the second band tour. My sweet sixteen.
I’ll always remember the time when I played a solo in ‘Sesame Street’ (stage/jazz band, not concert/wind band) at one of the primary schools, and afterwards this boy (probably about 8 or 9) was brave enough to come up and ask me some questions about music while iw as putting my sax away. I rememeber it, because I once felt exactly the same way when a high school band came to play at my primary shcool. i felt that because this person had a solo and had shared themselves with me in the audience, that I had some sort of relationship with them. I believe that the boy who came up to me (no one else was approached) felt that i had established a relationship, just by being a soloist.
And I’m a scary-looking person. I’m really tall and broad. So kudos to the kid, whoever he was.

Even if I just follow them around, with my own transportation, etc, I want to see a whole tour through, kind of with the hope that they’ll be like “Oh, you’re coming to the next 10 shows? geez, here’s some tickets (or a pass), stop spending all your money”
