I managed to get the kitchen repapered this weekend and that was the biggest job that needed doing in there so I’m considering this goal complete! YEY!

The kitchen is the only room in the house that needs any serious work done to it. Any improvements or work I do to it can only make it better as it probably couldn’t be any worse…don’t get me wrong it’s clean and I can work in it, cook in it etc…but it needs some serious work doing in there.

I need to:

• Paint the ceiling and coving
• Paint the doors and frames
• Paint the skirting boards
• Repaper the walls
• Lay a new floor

And its done!

Gone for ‘Willow Tree’ paint by dulux – fresh bright green, with white cabinets. The floor is now level so we’ve put some tile effect lino down. and it looks fab.

Definately worth doing – its now a job to be in there.

Having lived in the house over 5 years, I decided to make a few changes. So, I have had the pantry wall knocked out, making the room bigger. The walls and ceiling have been replastered, the walls are now being painted.

Still to do:
Get floor levelled, finish the painting, and get some wall cabinets.

Hope it doesn’t take to long, as I have a living room full of kitchen!

Before I decorated, my kitchen was very basic. Dark wood cabinets, and eggshell counters and floors. I went the old-timey route, picking up some old metal signs (think adverts for Sugar Cane and Swans Flour) and had them screwed onto a few of the doors on my cabinets. I decorated with ‘americana’ style accessories and I now get more compliments on that room than I ever did on any one specific room combined.

I’m going to try to paint fake wood grain on the cabinets. I really like the coppery red wood you see the home improvement stores coupled with black accessories but it is just beyond my means.

I would like to replace the floor with natural stone tiles. The flooring we have now is too light, every spec of dirt shows on it. I don’t mind cleaning the floor but I don’t like doing it 2-3 times a day just to make it look clean.

I don’t know what to do with the walls. Suggestions. We have a new stove and refrigerator that are black.
