I remember doing this as a kid and it’s one of my most vivid childhood memories. I’d love to do this again at some point in my life.
lovefreedom needs more hours in the day!
I did this in August 2007 on a campsite in Greece. I stayed awake most of the night talking with a friend. I never really noticed how many stars you can actually see when you look, they’re beautiful to look at and just daydream…
Get away from the cities, towns and any other form of civilisation and you’ll be amazed that you never noticed the night sky before.
I was inspired to do this by my flatmate. She got drunk one night and decided she wanted to sleep outside. Pulled out her swag and slept in the backyard.
I wanted to try it. Seems like such an Aussie thing, sleeping in a swag.
I decided to do it Saturday night as I wasn’t working the next day so didn’t matter if I slept badly.
It turned out that I actually slept quite well. Borrowed my flatmates swag and found it to be nice and comfy. The dog stayed outside too. He wanted to get in the swag too but couldn’t coz I had zipped up the mosquito net.
It was so nice to lie out there under the stars looking up.
I was woken up by a bird chirping. Such a nice experience.
amont feels like a million dollars :)
... I went to summer camp every year. We didn’t use tents, we slept in the moonlight underneath the stars! I remember having to wake up everyday before I was ready, and it was always cold in the morning! I guess that happens when you’re in the woods and the trees prevent the sun from warming you up. I recall being practically eaten alive by mosquitos every year, as well. It took me about three summers in a row before I finally figured out how to squeeze myself into my sleeping bag and keep the little buggers out! I thought I was miserable at the time, but I realize now how precious those times were. Great memories. :)
I did this for two weeks. What I sudgest you do if it is cold is dig a hole deep enough so you are below the surface. This will keep the wind off you and then all you have to do is hope it doesnt rain.
I was camping a few summers ago, and we dragged our bedding outside of the tents one night, and slept in the open, under the stars.
