I really need to buy some supplies to get started on some new projects. I haven’t seen my friend, Tina, in quite some time. She owns a tattoo shop and sometimes I go over there and we make stuff together. I think I will stock up on supplies and maybe go see her.
Also, I think I should look into getting a tax i.d. so I can buy stuff wholesale.

I’ve been making jewelry since I was about 8 years old. I used to sell bead necklaces when I was in elementary school, I sold some hairclips I made when I was 18, and that’s about the extent of my jewelry bussiness ventures. I’m 23 now, and I think I’ve realized this is maybe what I want to do forever. So I’m returning to school in the fall, and am going to major in metals. I’d also like to take a glass blowing class somewhere. And I bought a book recently about making resin jewelry, which I am way excited about. So I guess we shall see.
I made a beautiful necklace the other day with soldered sterling silver links and gemstones including kyanite, iolite, smoky quartz and amethyst. I was thrilled with it, and definitely felt the thrill of “I made this!” I need to get a business license so I can start buying wholesale, which will greatly reduce some of my costs. I’m feeling confident that I do have the ability to do this.
I finally broke down and bought about $200 worth of tools that I need to make the kinds of jewelry I want to make. I’ve also found some inspirational project tutorials at enioken.com. She makes some fabulous pieces!
I still haven’t attempted to sell any jewelry, but I made necklaces for my close girlfriends for Christmas, and everyone seemed to love the pieces, which were all very different and hopefully suited each woman’s personality. Next step is to get a real work space set up in the house so I don’t have to put everything away each time I finish working. I think I would be more inspired if it took less effort to get started each time!
I guess before I should consider this a goal, I should try to sell one single piece of my jewelry first. :-) I need to take some pictures and put some stuff on eBay.
