Lindsey is changing the world.
Some ideas and tips I’ve come up with along the way:
- Stop drinking caffeine at least 2 hours before I’ll be getting in bed.
- Get my worrying out in the morning – don’t save it until that time when I’m lying on the pillow.
- Try to avoid “hanging out” in my bedroom, so my sub-conscious only associates that room with going to bed.
- Slowly move my bedtime forward over time when I need to go to bed early, rather than trying to go to bed at 2am one night, and then 8pm the next.
- Get up and read or get some water when I can’t fall asleep, rather than simply lying there and letting my mind keep me awake.
- Exercise and stay active during the day to help my metabolism.
All in all, I think I’ve gotten to the point where it takes me less time to get to sleep than it ever has, and that’s awesome! I like being able to actually fall asleep when I want to, and I’ve been sleeping through the night without waking up so much more lately, too.
