is going away for two weeks so I might borrow her skateboard if she still has it and start practising this goal.
How I did it: It took my about a month to land my first trick: fakie shuv. Fakie is when you ride a skateboard going backwards. A shuv, or pop-shuv, when the board does a 180 degree rotation. After that, I learned fakie big spins. A big spin is where you do a 180, and the board does a shuv after you have completed your rotation. After a while, I was learning new tricks and getting better. It brought me closer to a lot of people. People at school, … Read how I did it…

How I did it: I've always been facinated with skateboarding. So a few months ago, I thought "If those guys can do that, can't I?" So I decided to try. The next day I went and bought a cheap Walmart board because I didn't want to spend too much money if I ended up not liking it.Since then I've made a lot of progress. I can skate on the road, stop, turn, go down hills, etc. Just basic stuff. I can't really do many tricks, but I love it. It is very freein… Read how I did it…

systemfan622 needs something to do
I asked my mom for a skateboard for my birthday, which is next week!
Just got my brother’s old skateboard!
It’s very wobbly, but it’ll do for now.
I just managed to actually move and turn! :)
I used to skateboard when I was a kid. I think it would be a great way to get around NYC. Skateboards are so portable.
I had a big debate about how girls will never be able to be good skaters with some reallysexistannoyinglynarrowmindeddumb friends recently.
As a result I was REALLY annoyed and decided to learn to skateboard and prove them wrong.
I’ve always wanted to skate anyway and this has just made me move my ass and actually try.
Hopefully will get a decent skateboard very soon and hopefully will be able to move more then 50 cm on it >.<.
sassycass101 is free in less than 24 hours!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i’ve already started this and so far so good, only 2 falls, and only got in the way of one person, in a car, oops
I picked up skating because it was my boyfriends favorite pastime. He tried to help me as much as he could in the beginning, but ultimately it was up to me if I was going to succeed or not.
It began with learning to push, and of course learning to slow myself down. I then began riding vert, backside kickturn came more easily to me, a year later I learnt how to frontside kickturn. All along I continued to practice my ollie until I was able to do it while rolling. Then came pop shuvs and 180’s. I still have difficulty timing my ollie and I haven’t mastered the coping yet.
My advice is if you can get some time in on a mini ramp it'll really help you with learning the basics of riding vert.I’m just coming into my third summer of skating and i still get frustrated with myself but out of nowhere i’ll land the trick i’ve been working at for months! and the feeling of accomplishment and self gratitude that comes over you when you land it is amazing.
Compared to many other skaters I started very late, i’m 22 and a female. I may be at the same level as some 13 year olds but I wouldn’t trade this for the world. :) Happy Skating to you all :)
actionxabby is making her list!
Skating has always been an attractive sport to me. It’s more than doing tricks but landing them. It’s about getting up every time you fall… Unless you got knocked out ;]
Overall, I think it will help to improve my morale and attitude.
its the next rational move from playing roller derby. I think it will help with agility and balance too.
plus i can say things like cowabunga and eat my shorts.
