How to learn to skateboard

How I did it: I've always been facinated with skateboarding. So a few months ago, I thought "If those guys can do that, can't I?" So I decided to try. The next day I went and bought a cheap Walmart board because I didn't want to spend too much money if I ended up not liking it. Lessons & tips: Just do it! SInce a few months ago, I was freaked out by skateboarding. I would not stand on one for a hundred bucks. But now I have so much fun on it. Resources: Online skating websites, skateboard, grassy area, garage floor, carpet area

How I did it: I learned when I was about 13 years old. My friends and I got skateboards. I just messed around every day and slowly learned to balance and kick turn. Then I learned ollies and many other tricks. As an adult of a certain age (ahem!) I can say that it is like riding a bike, once you learn you never forget. How I did it: It took my about a month to land my first trick: fakie shuv. Fakie is when you ride a skateboard going backwards. A shuv, or pop-shuv, when the board does a 180 degree rotation. After that, I learned fakie big spins. A big spin is where you do a 180, and the board does a shuv after you have completed your rotation. After a while, I was learning new tricks and getting better. I want to skateboard so bad. Hell if I could skateboard I garuntee you I would save gas money haha. The weather’s getting pretty nice in Florida, like the sweat shirt and shorts kind of weather.. I love it. I stuck with skateboarding for a whilel over the summer and I mean I can skateboard but I’m not too good. I deffinetly want to learn tricks. I’ll starting practicing every day for 45 minutes or so.

I can balance on the carpet now! Huzzah! Now I have to transfer that to tarmac. I’m imagining it won’t be very successful to begin with, but I’m sure I’ll get there in time. :)

OK so i went to a skatepark for the first time. Things still different from having whole blocks all to myself, but whatever. I got a little better with my ollieing and i went down a ramp for the first time.

I LOVE the skater look… That is my style! I got a skateboard for chirstmas and I’ve been meaning to learn. I’ve gone outside and practiced, but only on my driveway because my road is so bumpy and full of potholes! Almost everyone at my school- well, mostly boys but I do know a few girls- can skateboard ad I want to learn! I don’t need to know tricks, I just wanna glide. I feel free when I’m on my board…

im bored and need something new to do so i decided to try skating…first ill have to save up money to get a decent pair of skate shoes and a board. not a piece of crap from wallmart.

My boyfriend does it. He’s good and it’s sexy that he’s good. He rolls around at the skate park and I sit on my ass, get drunk and play dice with the guys who’ve been sidelined by broken bones or too much beer.
So, I’d like to try. In the past month I’ve gone from barely being able to stand up on a board to shakily moving forward and turning corners. I don’t care about front-side-salad-50/50-fakey (skater lingo may as well be Polish or something for all I understand/care) I just want to be comfortable cruising. My boyfriend bought me a sick board, too, so the wheels are turning (hah).
