    Try, try again. 1 year ago

    Attempt number one died a quick, painful death. Gaming two nights a week made me grumpy. Especially considering I didn’t have everything as prepared as I would have liked.

    It’s all for the best, in the end. Someone pushed Changeling: the Lost on me recently, and now I’m ready for take two. This time, I’m feeling much more relaxed, our Tuesday slot is open, and I’m getting a lot of good groundwork down already. It’s been a wee bit difficult translating what was undeniably a DND plot into a modern setting, but it’s certainly not impossible. It’s opened up a lot of possibilities.

    I think it’ll be starting in a few weeks. I think it’ll go really well :}

    DMing a Campaign on SecondLife 2 years ago

    SecondLife as a medium for DND is really great. Though there are some benefits and cons to be aware of:

    Benefits:
    - Miniatures! as a DM I can create miniatures and elaborate scenes pre-game and players even have the opportunity to make their own miniatures fore their characters
    - Text chat really encourages people to be more Roleplaying. Voice chat I think could even help more for people who are more voice-inclined.
    - Voice chat will soon be ubiquitous in SL, and DMing campaigns will go faster
    - Players enjoy creating their own avatars so other people know what their character looks like

    Cons:
    - games tend to run a bit slower, and this conflicts with players who expect to get XP much faster
    - Can’t gnosh on snacks with friends =(
    - Dice rollers and other scripted tools are hard to find
    - People with disperse locations have disperse time availability

    A bunch of old ideas and maps are coming together. In a couple of months, I should still have a good group of players around for it, too. So nervous running for the other GMs though…
